Solved Authentication ID different than extension

    Hello,

    I am trying to register a Snom phone to my 3CX (V15). This works fine, as long as the authentication id is the same as the extension number.

    But if I define a different authentication id (ie: giving it a name) then the refistration fails. The PBX will return a 404.

    I cannot see what I am doing wrong.

    Is there some Special Settings required?

    Are you able to confirm that the Authentication ID is the same at both the set and the server? The correct ID is in the config file and has correctly populated the set?

    Have you tried leaving the Account, on the set as 51, rather than the Authentication name?

    Does the Activity log, give an indication of what is incorrect?

    HI,

    yes. As shown above, when I use 51 (the extension name) as a SIP name, then it works fine. But I consider this as security issue. Knowing the extension lets you know the username. This is why want to have a SIP username that has at least 8 characters and differs from the extension.

    The server returns 404 not found.

    #In the 3CX activity Log:
    CM102001]: Authentication failed for AuthFail Recv Req REGISTER
    ; Reason: Credentials don't match, check that authorization-ID and password match the ones in extension settings

    Hello @pks-team

    Just tried it with a Yealink and a snom phone with v15 and in both cases once i change the auth ID i re-provision the phones and the phone re-registers with the new auth ID. I have them auto provisioned and not manual but the phones can register if the id does not match the extension number

    Hello YiannisH_3CX,

    I tried by using provisioning and it workd. Looking at the difference I saw why:

    what Snom calls "Account" is actually the extension. I got confused because I use German UI and there it is called "Nutzerkennung" where I did not translate it to "Extension".
