Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Debian 8 to Debian 9 without having to redeploy an AWS instance through PBX Express?

I can see you can manually upgrade like follows:
https://tecadmin.net/upgrade-debian-8-jessie-to-debian-9-stretch/ or,
https://www.rootusers.com/how-to-upgrade-debian-8-jessie-to-debian-9-stretch/

Or there appears to be a 3CX supported option here:
https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/upgrading-debian/

Is one way preferred over the other? Is the first option not feasible or just not supported?

Hello @James Clowes

The very first thing you should do is to perform a backup of the PBX and save outside the PBX machine. Then i would recommend following the 3CX instructions as that process will download a script that will update the system for you. The manual way will require you to do additional steps manually to get the PBX working. Try it and let us know if you face any issues.

So your question is ultimately an AWS question so you'd be better off opening a ticket with them. That being said I'm fairly certain there's no restrictions although given how quick it is to deploy an instance I prefer the delete and deploy new.

Did you really just ask if the 3CX supported upgrade path was the preferred path on the 3CX forums about your 3CX instance? I'll just assume you haven't had your coffee yet.
