When I call out (not tested yet with incoming) after a few seconds I hear (soft dtmf) beeps on my line. When I call 'around' the software directly to the provider I don't hear them.

    Anyone?

This beep has a fair few of us stumped.

Normally the beeps are initiated with:

    - call waiting
    - registration/billing timers from VSP
    - message received
    to name a few.

The odd thing is that it happens when you use the software and it does not happen when you do not use 3cx.

Weird, I have no idea. Would like to be able to reproduce it but I can't (trust me i tried).

    So question time:

    - Who is your vsp?
    - Does the beep happen frequently, for example every minute etc.
    - What services do you have with your VSP (eg call waiting etc).
    - What IP phones do you use
    - What DTMF configuration do you use

(Random Time..it can be 20 seconds, 2 minutes)

    - What services do you have with your VSP (eg call waiting etc).
    No services -

What IP phones do you use
    LinkSys SPA941-

What DTMF configuration do you use

I have exactly the same experience!!

Does the beep happen frequently, for example every minute etc.
(Random Time..it can be 20 seconds, 2 minutes)

What services do you have with your VSP (eg call waiting etc).
    None

What IP phones do you use
Linksys SPA942 (is this maybe the problem??)

Aorlando has also a Linksys SPA.

Ok I think I got a handle on this (but that might be different tomorrow :)). First the problem is caused by the ATA, every time something does not happen as expected I see quotes like.

No problem with LinkSYs SPA9000 or TrixBox as PBX

This problem is not caused by 3cx and is not solved by TrixBox (well not really). Most likely (i might be wrong) is that the problem occurs on PSTN calls and not so much on VoIP calls.

    I got two theories:

What you have is what can be called "Talk Off", what happens is, based upon the voice of the caller the frequencies fool the ATA to generate a DTMF.

So there you have it, try to talk in a low voice (both you and the called person) and see if you get the beeps.

    Theory number two.
Codecs..... I do believe that this problem does not happen when using G726 protocol. Most likely that was what you used on TrixBox or something like that.

    Now is there a fix......

Well only a few things you can try, i do not know if they work.

Set DTMF Tx Method to INFO
Set DTMF Tx Mode to strict

Keep in mind that if you get problems with getting the correct DTMF tones across to a sender (like banking or even using the IVR) you might have to change the DTMF TX Method back to auto or Inband. Inband+info is also an option you can try but not sure if your model has that.

Good because LinkSys is Cisco :).

    This fix doesn't seem working.

On my SPA941 as you said I defined
    DTMF Tx Method: Info

    but still beeps persist.

    Bugger,

Well the guys at 3cx might do some smarts with the software to make it stop.

Lets see where they come back with.

    Hi,

We've tweaked the DTMF recognition module and loosened up the sensitivty which caused these instances of false detection. Some users were complaining of random DTMF strokes being mistakenly picked up.

The new release will have this issue fixed which should be due for release before the end of this month.

    Hi Erwin,

for version 1928, problem can be partially solved by setting "DTMF Process AVT" to "no" in phone configuration. (advanced configuration - "Ext n" page)

Hopefully, 941(942) also has this setting.

    Re: Beeping

It fixed the issue for me on my Linksys SPA942. However, when I call in and my AA picks up the line, I hear the beeps as well. Probablly the same setting needs to be changed in my gateway as well.

I believe you're right. When I call in from an outside line, I still hear the beep when misc audio/noise is picked up in the call.

    System Beeps

I've tested it on 2 different Windows Servers. Both have Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard OS but different hardware. Server 1 is a Pent III 1GIG RAM and NO BEEPS. Server 2 Pent 4 1GIG RAM and BEEPS. odd. any one know of motherboards with issues regarding 3cx?

We have identified this and have made a fix. It will be in the next build which we should release next week if all goes well.

    Apologies for this.

Bummer, really it was such a good "undocumented" feature. It was the only thing that kept me awake when I was on the phone with the mother inlaw

Every beep was translated into a "Hm Hm Yes Ma"
