We have Cisco SPA504g phones and when we receive a call that is anonymous it does not display the prepend information on the phone (this is a problem with all Cisco phones apparently). According to Cisco, the solution is to change the callerID in the PBX system from "anonymous" to "unknown". Is there a way to do this in 3CX?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have just encountered exactly the same problem. Were you able to get the 'anonymous' string changed in 3CX to something else?

Thanks

Keith

Just an idea..

Use this method http://www.3cx.com/forums/rule-for-call-with-no-source-phone-number-37348.html

of sending the calls to a ring group (extension, perhaps?)so that it can pick up the name "unknown".

It would be nice if it could be changed in the 3CX phonebook but that is usually based on the number received. I'm not sure, that if no number is available, there is a way of substituting a name.

If you use a gateway, some will send the gateway "name", the one you put in, when no caller ID is received. Really doesn't help on VoIP trunking, unfortunately.
