According to Ciscos website this has been discontinued, not good news, the specs show...

    Protocols Supported

    • Compatible with Cisco Unified CallManager 3.3 and above, using the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP)

    • H.323 Version 2

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) (RFC 2543)

However...If you are going to try to use one, or purchase one, be sure that is has the SIP firmware already installed. It is very difficult to obtain a copy of the SIP firmware for a Cisco phone if you do not have a contract with them.

If you are certified sane person i would stay away from the 79XX Cisco series at all costs.
They are simply not worth the trouble configuring.

I'd suggest something from Cisco's or Snom's new phone series, maybe the Snom 820 or a nice Cisco SPA5XX series
