We are developing a new system that requires access to one of our databases. I would like to know if there is a way of testing the connection to the database from within VAD. We have confirmed via the ODBC link that we can access the database but want to check the connection we made within VAD.

    Thanks for any help.

You could create a custom component, into that component make a dummy query and add an error handler for the database error. If the callflow goes into the error handler, you can set the "connection test" result to false, while you can set it to true just after executing the database access component in the main flow.

When you catch the error into a user component, when the flow exits that user component continues its execution in the main flow, so you can take an alternative path, like checking a file or something else.

    Hope the information helps.

    Kind regads,

Great to know about the solution as I was not knowing about it and got to know about it.
