    This seems like a pretty simple thing to implement. Currently, if your users do not record a self identification message, they won't be available to dial by name from an IVR. Many people like the default greeting and would rather not record their own. Why does this preclude them from being reachable from the IVR using the dial by name option?

    Please fix this so that dial by name DOES NOT have the self ID requirement.

    Hi,

    Fully agree with this one.
    The requirement for any user to have the self-identification message defined in order to be reachable by the dial-by-name is a real mystery as to why it was designed like that.
    Please implement as requested by the OP (remove this requirement).

    While on the subject, the "self-identification message" label makes no sense. Not one client has understood that without a detailed explanation. Please change the prompt to "Your first and last name"

    What about forcing the user to record this self-identification message when they access voicemail for the first time? Also call it your first and last name, rather than self-identification. That would help many of our customers.

    Alternatively use text to speech to generate a wav file name and plug that in until the user records their own.

    We are building a little add-on that checks for missing self-identification recordings and auto-creates one for you either using a generic pre-recorded message or by using text-to-speech (using the first and last name configured for the extension). It runs nightly, or on an ad-hoc basis so if this is something you need, contact me.

    Default greeting and Self ID Message are 2 different things.
    Self ID is simply name (and sometimes department) "John Smith, Inside Sales"

    Self ID, whether self recorded or automated, is very much needed so we know who we are calling when multiple people have same and/or similar last name

    I've got some people never recorded VM greeting - nor logged in. They right away either 1) forward all calls to mobile, or 2) ask for VM to Email option.
