Attempting to set up DID functionality.

Gone through the documentation and it seems straight forward with little variation so it should work but having no success.

Have a main number and several DID numbers and what to link them to specific extensions. Setup the appropriate Inbound Rules but get the same results every time, the DID ends up on the main number.

The extension works without problems and the Inbound conditions seem simple - choose the extension, choose the environment so when called externally via the DID the number flows to the extension. Seems simple but there must be some other condition as I am sure this has been done many times.

Would appreciate any feedback and any way to confirm that the DID is operational.

Thank you.

Hello @markf100,

What version is your PBX?
Have you followed the Extension settings > General tab > Direct Inbound Dialing (DID)?
Or have you configured Inbound Rules?

Latest version on Debian.

Have used both options, same result.

Thank you.

@markf100,

Also it depends on the format of the DID's and how the number arrives in your SIP Trunk.
Go to SIP Trunks > Select your trunk > DIDs tab > and change the format to match the incoming calls.

For example if your number is 12345678 change it to *45678
Second DID: 23456789 >> *56789 and so on.

You will then have to recreate your inbound rules. Test with one DID and inform on the outcome.

Appreciate your prompt response.

Say Main Number is 8784 6366 and the indials are 8784 6367,8,9 etc so you are saying setup the Trunk DID's as 6367,8,9 etc and if that is the case which I had not tried with the appropriate Inbound Rule - it has the same result.

Thank you, what else could I try?

@markf100,

DID 8784 6367 will be reformatted to *6367

Did you add the * in front of the DID (* translating to "Any")?
Also, did you change your inbound rules to match the DIDs?

Added the * concept and we now have a winner!!!!

Thank you - moving onto Outbound Rules now.

Also is there a capability with the Chrome plugin plus the Windows client to call numbers but pass the call to a desktop or mobile phone for calling - I think it is a TAPI functiony?

@markf100

You're referring to "CTI mode".

Follow this link >> https://www.3cx.com/user-manual/web-client/#h.yf3akapipoxr

Also check the following link where from a browser you can call directly and if the 3CX client is in CTI mode then this number will pass direclty to the deskphone>> https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/click-to-dial-extension/

There is another way with the Tel Protocol (Pro license ONLY) >> https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/tel-protocol-3cxphone/

About the TAPI Driver, this can be downloaded and installed with the 3cx Plugins >> http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPlugins15.exe
