I know the fax server does not work in the free version. However the demo key is supposed to unlock all the features with only 2 simultaneous calls. Does this not include the 3CX faxing? Please let me know. I keep trying to configure it but I feel I might just be wasting time at this point.

    Re: Fax Server

Check is extension 888 green (fax server extension), also check is the fax server service started. Fax server can be use only for receiving faxes. 3cx support only T.38 protocol so you must have T.38 sip trunk or T.38 capable pstn gateway

    Re: Fax Server

Extension is green and fax service is showing started. I am using DIDForSale and they say T.38 is supported. However when I try sending a test fax from faxzero it never comes in.

    Re: Fax Server

Try to dial your fax number which is on 3cx, do you hear fax sound? Also check the server activity log or wireshark, if there is no incoming fax log maybe you can check with DIDforSale. When the fax is coming, extension 888 will answer and the status must be connected. In inbound rule did you select send fax to "email of extension" for fax number?

I'm going to email DIDForSale see if they need to enable it on the line. When I call the line it just disconnects on me. I have it set to do the emailing.

    Re: Fax Server

They say that t38 is enabled. However I tried to fax something from a regular fax machine and it didn't come through. This is what my log shows.

At least, we are able to try to help you...
Could you please provide a verbose log of the call?
From the log, which you have provided, the only one thing is visible... 3CX FAX server does not understand DIDForSale.

    Re: Fax Server

So is this DIDForSale not understanding the fax coming in? Do I ned to have windows faxserver installed? Do I need any other devices or should I be able to just receive the fax and have it email? Please let me know so that I can finish getting this setup. This is the last piece of my puzzle. I have a stack of business cards printed out with this fax number on it and I need to get this situated.

    Dex,
You need to post a complete log, up to the point where you see the disconnect.

    Re: Fax Server

3cx apparently sees the call from didforsale as a normal call. A wireshark capture would likely help and knowing the version of 3cx might as well. There are differences between the versions with V11 being enhanced to minimize the setup.

I think wireshark will give more detail than the 3cx log. In this matter, but feel fre to post both.

    Re: Fax Server

Fax service is definitely working with demo version of 3CX. You need to set also a valid e-mail account.

All you need to use fax service, is a T.38 compliant VoIP provider.
G.711 pass-trough is not compatible with built-in fax server, you need a suitable ATA and legacy fax-machine to send / receive faxes in such cases.

    Regards

    Re: Fax Server

Alright sorry for this. I had a complete hardware failure on my server. I'm in the middle of a relocation as well. I'll be resetting this up today sometime and will try all the suggestions. I was using the latest version 11 with a demo key. I did not realize that I posted an incomplete log and I will post a complete log as soon as this is resetup. Thank for the help I really like this software.

    Re: Fax Server

I have gone ahead and reinstalled Version 11 of 3CX on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine. Here is what I am getting in the Server Event Log

The description for Event ID '1073741824' in Source '3CXFAXSrv' cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message, or you may not have permission to access them. The following information is part of the event:'Service procedure completed with code 0'

Now I am running the Abyss web server. Would it be better to install IIS and setup SMTP? Then set that up through my GMail? I did this before on my previous Windows 2008 Server box.

    Re: Fax Server

Ok, I just resetup my Windows 2008 machine. I reinstalled 3CX version 11 and have placed in the demo key. I have verified that emails are now being sent through the SMTP server installed on the machine. I tested this by using the send welcome email. All is well except I'm still getting the error I posted above. How do I resolve that so that I can get this fax server working? Thank you

    Re: Fax Server

I've been searching every reach of the internet that i can find and I see multiple people having this same issue. However none of the threads seem to have no answer in them at all. Who is going to be my savior?

Look into your NAT (Firewall), that is where your issue is. It does work with DIDForSale.
