Disable all call recording

    Hello,

    is it possible to disable the option to record a call for every user?
    In Germany current law forbids recording a call without informing the other person and getting their consent before the recording starts.
    We however do not want to do this and it was decided that the option should just be disabled for all employees.
    Is this possible?
    Also is it possible to disable the option to record Webmeetings for everyone but the organizer?

    I know that it is still possible to record a call without using 3CX, but if an employee does so it is no longer our problem as IT and instead a problem for the employee.

    For the different rights for users in Webmeeting (there are 3 different roles):
    1. Organizer - Has full control of the web meeting. Can take advantage of all the available features as well as control camera, microphone and chat access. He can also accept, reject or kick a user out of a meeting.
    2. Presenter - Can only Share screen, Reply to a Remote Control request, Polling and share PDF.
    3. Participant - Can only Request for Remote control Assistance.

    In extensions menu, select all extensions, navigate to options and deselect checkbox 'Record all calls' and apply.

    Thank you guys for answering.

    So if I understand this correctly there is no way to stop a user from recording using 3CX, just from accessing that recording?
    That is at least a partial solution, even if it will still create a desire to use the recording feature from the user.

    Can we create a feature request to add a option to grey out or remove the button?

    That is correct. Even if the record all calls option is disabled under extension settings the user can record a call when pressing the record button. You can limit the ability of the user to access and download these recordings as you mentioned.

    Please navigate to our ideas section of the forum and create a new feature request regarding this or search for an existing similar request and upvote that one

    If using Linux you might fiddle with mounting a directory with the nullfs filesystem type and pointing the recordings to that folder. Instant blackhole. Record all you like but there is still no recording to recover.

    (I have not tested this, just thinking of a workaround in the meantime)
