We are new to 3CX, having previously been an Askozia partner, and are just starting to explore 3CX and all of its possibilities. It looks like a great product and has some great features, however I am quite perplexed by the lack of dynamic call recording functionality from a physical extension.

We have a number of clients who do not see the need to record all of their calls (either due to small amount of storage space on their call server, or compliance issues etc), however being able to silently turn call recording on when necessary is essential (we obviously always put a call record disclaimer message at the start of the IVR).
It seems we can do this from the PC client, however at least 50% of our installs run on separate IP networks (for various reasons), so this just isn't an option. Also, the majority of users aren't technical and want something that is simple to use, installing yet another app on their PC just adds to confusion.

Is the only option here to enable recording of all calls to each extension? If this is the case, how is this going to impact performance and storage utilization of an existing Askozia PC Engines APU based call server with a 16GB SSD for example?

    Best Regards
