Hi, still having issues with my email settings, i run ms server 2008 with smtp enabled, no user/pass for the email service.

i've tested it without a problem outside of 3xc but doesnt ever seem to work with 3cx, anyone else experience this before?

    thanks

What do you have currently as your settings in 3cx? Are you getting an error message? Does anything show up in the (Verbose-mode) logs?

so you installed the IIS SMTP service on a 2008 server running as well the 3CX PBX.
Can it be that the host blocks by default requests from local host?

Try to speak to your SMTP Server via Telnet.

    do this:
    -cmd
-telnet localhost 25 (then you have set some other host name in your pbx place it in there instead of localhost)
    -hello
    -from: test@3cx.com
    -rcpt to: mye-mail@domain.com
    -data
    [Enter].[Enter]
    bye or quite

most likely you will fail already at step 2
but this makes it much more clearer where look next to

I get this response at step 2, however, the rest of the commands are "unrecognized"

Seems to be working. But 3CX doesn't send anything.

Like I mentioned before, I have a forum setup to use the same SMTP service and that seems to be working.

    Instead try:
    hello
    MAIL from <test@3cx.com>
    rcpt to <mye-mail@domain.com>
    data
    [Enter].[Enter]
    quit

Install logging and see what's going on. The telnet stuff is nonsense and a waste of time in this case especially since it works for your other SMTP services/clients

    Here are the directions:

    1) Install ODBC Logging module (role service in Server Manager)

    2) Stop / Start the SMTP Service

    3) Verify your SMTP service is configured for logging. It's not on by default.

    4) Look at your log folder.
