We are looking for a possibility to create an exception for a specific extension to always be able to forward a call and let the extension ring for XX seconds, independently of the status of the extension.

For example:

  • Customer calls to extension 100.
  • Extension 100 answers the call.
  • Extension 100 forwards call to extension 200. While the status of extension 200 is DND/AWAY/OutOfOffice/Custom#2.
  • Phone of extension 200 rings for XX seconds unless it is on a call. (where XX is the amount filled in at the forwarding rule for 'Available' and assuming the extension is not able to accept more than 1 call)
  • If extension 200 does not pick up the call, then the call forwarding rule of the current status (DND/AWAY/OutOfOffice/Custom#2) is applied anyway.

Is this possible with the current version (v9 SP4) of 3CX or can we create a feature request?

P.S. Also we wonder why it is not possible to create exception to forward a call to the Mobile Number of the extension. We could fill in the external number but choosing for Mobile Number to forward to would be a lot easier/better.

This is possible in v9 of 3cx with the forwarding rules.

The only one it wont work with is DND on the phone as this is a phone specific rule and usually means no calls at all (which is why it is rarely used as the 3cx statuses are much better).

What you are describing appears to be that the person is still in the office (ie not away/out of office/custom2) but doesnt want to use their normal available rules as they are in a meeting or busy etc.

This is where Custom 1 comes in. They can set the custom 1 status to ring for xx seconds (say 5) and then go to voicemail or however they want it. And it will not mess up their normal available set up (and their away/out of office etc will always work as originally intended).

As for the exception to mobile, I have a feeling that that the addition of "Mobile" in the forwarding rules was a late entry and was left out of the exception form by mistake (though i am sure they will deny this lol!). Put in a feature request as it should not be too difficult for 3cx to add and it does make it easier for the user.
