External Extensions (Audio one way)

    hello everyone, I am new to SIP/Voip but have thus far setup 3CX very easily and have calls coming in. A problem I have encountered recently is with external extensions. When someone outside of the office registers an external extension they can all into another internal extension or via a VOIP provider to a land line but when the recipient picks up they can hear the audio but the external extension cannot hear them.

    I obviously thought this was related to RTP not being open somehow but have checked and 9000-9049 (UDP only) is open and allowed through the firewall and when running the FW checker in 3cx I see the following:

    Does anyone have any idea's for me to look at? I really want to keep 3CX but management is telling me not to waste anymore time with it if I can't get this working correctly.

    Do they have a firewall in between their extension and the internet and is it open for those ports?

    You could also try using the 3cx tunnel which should remove this problem for remote extensions.

    If the remote extension is not receiving audio then you need to look at the router/firewall at that end. Try moving a set to a new location, perhaps trying one at home. If you have more than one set at a location , behind a router, be sure each phone has a unique ports number and that STUN is enabled.

    It is often easier to use a tunnel as it removes ALL the issues at remote users' sites. The softphone supports the 3CX tunnel directly. All you need to do is to configure the settings on the softphone, and enable tcp port 5090 at the router connecting the 3CX to the Internet. An alternative is to use the 3CX proxy downloadable here: http://www.3cx.com/downloads/3CXSIPProxyManager9.msi or to use a VPN router - such as a Draytek 2820. The Draytek 2820 comes into its own for providing extensions at remote sites - but only use if the Internet connection is good. All three methods are robust solutions.
