Hello,

The wiki pages give an excellent description about internal-to-internal and internal-to-external call processing but nothing on external-to-external call processing, where can I find information about such a scenario?

Thanks,

W.

Hi

When you say external - external are you referring to external ext -> external ext OR external ext -> external line?

In principal the correct flow should be the same to the Wiki DOC with the differece being that the Contact IP will be the STUN resolves public IP of the external entity.

We will however forward your request to update wiki.

Hi, William.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I meant external ext - external ext.

The explanation for the previous two cases is every good but no details are given about this case. How are calls routed here? Do they go through the 3cx box or do the two devices get re-invites and they communicate directly?

Cheers,

W.

Hi again William,

Maybe you can request that they fix the following Wiki FAQ entry too: http://www.3cx.com/support/internal-external-call.html

The text reads:

To check whether the IP is local, 3CX Phone System uses the following process:
It queries all IPs assignedto the PC on which it is installed.
Using the subnet masks assigned, it checks whether the IP is local ACCORDING to windows.
In addition, it also checks a configuration file for a list of local subnets. This configuration file can be found in the <inifilename.ini>. >. Local subnets are listed under the section <sectionname> in the following format <format>.
If the IP is considered local, then the call is internal. If the IP is not local, then the call is external.

I believe <inifilename.ini> should be replaced by 3CXPhoneSystem.ini, <sectionname> should be [Network] and format should be LocalSubnets=netid/mask[,netid/mask[...]]

Cheers,

W.
