FAX Setup issues

    I am currently using the latest fully paid for version of 3cx (ver. 9)and am having some issues relating to the fax server.

    I have a voip number dedicated to the fax server and have arranged for that number to be forwarded to the fax server number 888 which appears to be a default for the fax server.

    I have not opened any ports on the router for the fax server as the documentation doesn't indicated that that might be needed.

    The problem is when I ring the number I see the call forwarded to fax server 888 but I don't get a fax tone for the handshake. The call answers and I hear nothing and the call ends after about 25 seconds.

    What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Warmest regards
