heres what i'm trying to do. basically when the ring group 800 rings i would also like my mobile to ring too just in case i'm not in the office. i have tried adding a dummy extention however it doesnt want to ring out. i have also tried using the phones (cisco 7940) call forward option which works for internal calls however it doesnt seem to want to call forward to my mobile. i can ring out from the phones if i do it my self. when i set the phone system up the only way i could get the phones to be able to ring out was to have an out bound rule which stripped 0 from the number when dialled is this effecting the ability to call forward? or am i just not doing it right??

    thanks

In the ring group settings there is an option of what to do with a call that has not been answered by a phone in the group after xx number of seconds. Ring time is at the top, at the bottom are the options of where to send the call. Did you select "Forward to outside number" then put in you mobile number in the same format as you would dial it from one of the 3CX extensions. If that is failing then look at the system log to see what error messages you are getting. You do have two outside lines on the 3CX, one incoming and a second line to send out the call to your mobile, right?

you got me thinking with the whole 2 line thing. so i created an extention 120 and a rule so that when the extention wasnt registered it would call an out side number. tried calling in from my mobile and again nothing worked. called 120 from another extention and it worked. so i take it i only have one line using sipgate. i'm able to recieve several calls at once though so i thought i had two lines???

You need to make sure in the global settings found in Settings > General > Global that you have enabled the "Allow forwarding to external numbers in ring groups" option otherwise you can't ring external numbers from a ring group regardless of what you try.

In the options for the trunk you can specify how may calls to allow at one time. If you make one outgoing call from an extension, can you make a second outgoing call from another extension at the same time?

    hello

just found out that we connot make two calls at the same time. so what would be the best way to get round this sign up for another number then when a call comes in through the main line redivert it through to the second?

That's what a number of customers do, sign up for a second line and use it to forward calls from the main line to external numbers.

i've signed up for a second line credited but i carnt seem to get 3cx to dial out when the ring group 800 rings. i have set a dummy extention up on 120 and a rule for when its not registered to ring an external number which is my mobile. however when the ring group rings 3cx doesn't seem to want to call out through the second line to my mobile. any ideas?

    thanks

First of all make sure you can establish two simultaneous outside calls using a couple of extensions. If that works then you can move on with figuring out which settings need to be tweaked. You did set the options to allow 2 calls on the trunk group?

so, are you able to make two simultaneous calls from two extensions to see if they are allowing both?

Perhaps try getting a call forward to another land line working first. Are you able to take an outside call on an extension and then do a transfer to your mobile?
