Out of curiosity, how do you use the built-in Operator extension, if at all?

Do you connect that extension to your receptionist's phone or do you let the receptionist have their own named, Mary/Mark Jones, extension?

Do you use it for only a general, after hours voicemail box?

Do you use it to trigger an IVR?

Just wanted to hear how everyone else uses it.

Thanks.

It is a destination for callers when they choose to "leave" various "locations" (voicemail is one) in 3CX. Some want the caller to route to a human, that can help them connect to someone else, or answer a question. Other simply route the caller to a digital receptionist to allow callers to choose their own destination. Some just want the caller to receive a recording. It really depends on your individual set-up and how you , or your customer wants to handle calls. Not every installation has a receptionist.

The operator extension can appear as a addition key on the main reception set. A receptionist can be assigned their own extension number with their name, separate from the "operator" extension.
