    Hello

is it possible to block calls between extensions?? e.g. If we have a company employees can call directly the CEO or the finantial manager directly and not trough the secretary. Can this be avoided??

    Regards

If they use a VoIP set or ATA with an internal dialplan, then you could block them from dialling certain numbers, but, he could just go use another extension.

I suppose that It could be done in the outbound rules, if the extension number were sent out on a loop trunk then back in, and access to that outbound rule were restricted to certain extensions, but that is getting a bit complicated.

I would think that if an employee, or employees were/was warned not to dial the CEO directly, and to go through his receptionist, yet he continued to do so, then his employment at that company should probably be "reviewed".

The managers extension number should also be appearing as a key on a receptionist set and answered by that person, who then screens and announces the call.

well that's true. But there is always the possibility that a 'leaving' employee might fool arround with the phone system, because he/she has nothing to loose.

If a manager/CEO/Director/VP, etc. is so concerned about the possibility of having to take a call from a mere employee, (and/or nuisance calls), then the phones should be set-up such that that their receptionist/personal assistant answer and screen their calls, putting through only the people that they wish to speak with.

It is very rare to have an extension number that can only be called from select, other, extensions.

There is a much simple way to block calls from other extensions in 3CX, using exception rules in extension settings.
For example in boss extension you may create a rule forwarding calls from all extensions, except secretary's one to secretary's extension. You may use ranges like 101-399, assuming ext. 100 is secretary, 400 is boss. Also you may apply time periods.
