    Hello

I want to use my HT488 for this simple scheme: receive incoming calls from the PSTN network, and make outgoing calls via my SIP account.
The latter works OK, but when I receive a call via PSTN and answer it, the HT488 hangs up (mostly in less than a minute)!

Simple scheme, simple setup; the HT488 is connected as follows:
    - the POWER adapter is plugged in,
    - the WAN port connects to my router,
    - the FXS port (Phone) connects to my analog phone,
    - the FXO port (Line) connects to my PSTN wall socket,
    - the phone line operator is Belgacom (Belgium's main operator).

I downloaded and installed the latest firmware, left most factory defaults untouched and only minimally changed the configuration:
    - via IVF, enabled web access (*** 12 9),
    - basic settings: changed "time zone" (GMT+1:00) and "route calls to pstn" (added emergency numbers),
    - advanced settings: changed "admin password", "syslog server" and "syslog level",
    - fxs port: changed first six lines (SIP account details), "fxs impedance" (CTR21 ...), "caller id scheme" (ETSI-FSK ...) and "onhook voltage" (48V),
    - fxo port: changed "pstn ac termination" (270 Ohm + ...) and "enable current disconnect" (no - just to be sure).

After reboot, the status page reads:

    • Product Model: HT488
Software Version: Program-- 1.0.3.96 Bootloader-- 1.1.0.1 HTML-- 1.0.3.96 VOC-- 1.0.0.13
      FXS Account: Yes
      FXO Account: No
      PPPoE Link Up: disabled
NAT: detected NAT type is open Internet
Everytime I look at the logs, I see 1837 FXO Hangup and 1188 DAA Hangup about 10 seconds after I answer an incoming PSTN call (here 00:34:04), and then or a short while later the connection is dropped (here 00:35:00):

The only time I found a 10 second time span mentioned is when explaining the PIN code input, but there is no special tone and even no PIN code configured, and I am at a loss...

Can somebody help me out with solving this problem, please? Hopefully I have provided enough context information and details; if not, just ask.

HI mousio2005, have a look in the FXO set up at the bottom of the page for PSTN silence timeout which is usually set to 60seconds. If the audio level comming from PSTN is very low, this can cause this to drop but if its set to 60 then the time out will be 60. Also, you may wish to try changing the polarity of the PSTN line into the HT 488, I have had issues with this in the past.

Yes HT488 works ok for me. I even have the FXO on HT488 on the end of PBX extension so that calling the extension ports the call out on voip.

It was still the factory setting, 60 seconds, and changing it to 600 has no effect regarding the problem I have.
I had tried it before and now again, but no effect either :(

Thanks for your quick reply and suggestions anyway, it is much appreciated!
Other hints, tips & tricks are welcome, this issue is still open...

I received some news from Grandstream support:
However, after upgrading to 1.0.3.98 the problem persists (HT488 hanging up) though I have not looked at the logs yet.
I still think it might be related to the PIN code input timeout, since it is the only item I know of that uses a 10 second time span. All other configurable settings do not have values of 10 seconds... Hope this is helpful. [I also replied all this to Grandstream support]
    Kind regards

The upgrade did not solve the problem, instead introduced another one: I have just "downgraded" my HT488 to 1.0.3.96 because of too many complaints of cracks and noise on the line, although we did not hear it (it was on the other end of the line). The downgrade succeeded and solved that issue.

But I am in need of a solution for the incoming calls getting disconnected! Can anyone provide some more test scenarios or suggestions, please?

Perhaps this scheme is too simple a setup? Is there a better solution for my needs (< EUR 50)? Anyone interested in a second hand HT488?
