Message Saving Failed (On PSTN calls SPA3102) (resolved)

    I'm a new 3CX convert, now currently dumping 2 asterisk now and 2 asterisk business editions at home and three of my sites. Setup was a no brainer.

    Side question before I get into my question. Is Nick Galea the same Nick from GFI and 2x? I love and still have those products at customer sites.



    I have a spa3102 and inbound/outbound calls are working from the pots line.

    I'm waiting for a DID from my voip provider to see if this condition exists on voip trunks as well.

    On inbound calls from the POTS through the spa I receive a message saving failed when trying to leave a message.

    However on internal calls, extension to extension, message saving works.

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    I wanted to post back that message saving works on my 2 voipvoip trunks. Just not from spa3102

    Go back over all of the settings in the 3102. Does the call drop when answered by an extension rather than the VM?

    Thanks for your reply.

    That is the interesting point. Calls coming in on the pstn are just fine. They can be picked up by any extension or ring group. For the moment I have it pointed to go to the voip extension on the spa3102 as it has an old cordless phone with an answering machine attached.

    There are description and comments/solution for very similar problem.
    There was "<" prepended, in your case it is "*"

    Is it the same problem?

    That is what's strange. Inbound and outbound calls through the SPA3102 are fine.

    Only when I go to leave a message via an inbound call through the SPA3102 do I get the Message Saving Failed error.

    Calling extension to extension and leaving a vm works.
    Calling in on a voip trunk and leaving a message works.

    Unless anyone has any other ideas I may do a factory reset on the spa, deleted it from 3cx and try again.

    Without a factory reset, I went thought the SPA3102 setup again and using the doc at http: //www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/linksys-3102/ - NO LONGER AVAILABLE

    In step 22 "In the PSTN-To_Voip Gateway Setup secton"
    see step e: Set the PSTN Caller ID Pattern field to "*" Note that in some geographical areas, this may cause incoming calls to fail, because the device incorrectly interprets the caller id format. If this is the case, you may need to disable callerid parsing by setting this field to empty.

    Well, my inbound and outbound calls worked but this was the only "*" I added to the config. So thus I removed it and voicemail from the spa3102 now works.


    In a side note on the above doc, step 13, I set line 1 to yes and configured an extension for my wife's favorite analog cordless phone. It works fine.

    That simple little * has caused a number of problems. And, yes, the FXS port can be used along with the FXO port.
