    Hello,

I'm new to 3CX and VoIP so bare with me if my terminology is off...

My VoIP provider is telling me the only way to connect with the 3CX system is through a SIP Trunk. Because the 3CX system is installed on a server to create an IP-PBX type of "virtual" device therefore it is not a purpose built IP-PBX itself and only if the server that 3CX is installed on has analog ports on it and the software can accept analog inputs. But yet they can provide service to me via IP phone with out the use of an ATA.

Does the 3CX phone system connect in the same manner as the IP phone? I would think that if my VoIP provider could connect to an IP phone with out an ATA then they should be able to support the 3CX Phone System without an ATA.

Maybe I'm not asking the right questions, can someone advise?

    Thanks in advance

    CB

    Hi CB

You need to set up a VOIP provider as per the section "Adding lines hosted by a VOIP Provider " in the manual pages 35,36 and 37 on http://www.3cx.com/manual/3CXPhoneSystemManual6/phone-system35.html.

It is recommended you use a supported VOIP provider. A list of supported ones my be found on http://www.3cx.com/partners/voip-providers.html

    regards
