We would like to provision multiple types of phones.Specifically Polycom and Cisco to start.

These phones have a different provisioning URL for each of them. Can you send multiple URL's to a phone using option 66?

    Thanks,

    Shawn

    Hello,

Of course this is why we offer phone provisioning templates in the management console. You can edit templates and create custom templates as you see fit but you are limited to the phone manufacturers capabilities as far as variables are concerned and every phone manufacturer has different specs and capabilities.

    Thanks,
    Nate

Not sure I follow you. When I configure option 66 in my DHCP server, how would I specify the option??

For instance if I want to send a url for a cisco phone I would use:

    http://192.168.1.100:5000/provisioning/$MA.xml

And if I want to send a url for a polycomphone I would send:

    http://192.168.1.100:5000/provisioning/

Can I send both of these strings to the phone when it boots; and if so, how?

    Thanks

    Shawn

    Shawn,

did you read the DHCP option 66 guide? http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/DHCP-option-66.html
it should answer all your questions, I don't use option 66 as I use PNP provisioning phones.

    Thanks,
    Nate

I did read the guide. It talks clearly about both phones. That is the page I pasted the two distinct URL's from.

However, it makes no mention of the ability to send both values to the phone or if the phone will be able to handle it.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

Each type of phone can only handle a certain format of provisioning via 66. if you which to use 66 you will need to reserver them based on mac address. i would suggest if they support, use 2 different dhcp options. say 66 for the cisco ans 242 for the other for example.
