Nicky the debian download link in this article downloads a blank zip file for me (tried twice). Can you check it?

Follow the instructions and you will be good to go:
    Code:
    1. wget http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/sbc/3cxsbc.zip
    2. sudo bash 3cxsbc.zip
Don't try to download and open the file manually.

Absolutely awesome to see 3cx putting resources into the border controller, its a key link to a working system.

With that said, do you guys expect this to eliminate more of the needs to restart pi's in the morning when people get into work and find their phones saying "no service" because they lost internet over night?

    Hello Nicky,

Does debian R9 SBC, support more than 50 ip Phones on a customer side? We use a cloud model of the 3CX PBX and we only can make a Connection to the server with an SBC.

@agp we are using a Raspberry Pi running Debian 8. What is the upgrade process, do I first upgrade to Debian 9 and then update the 3cx app?

Or would it be better to do a clean install?

Does anyone maybe have step-by-step instructions on how to do this properly?

Why even give a shell script a .zip extension in the first place? Kind of odd...

Also you could turn that into a one-liner with less confusion:

    Code:
    wget http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/sbc/3cxsbc.zip -O - | sudo bash

    Hi benitok,

I suggest to do a clean install, it will take less time.
    From this link https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
download "RASPBIAN STRETCH LITE" and then follow this guide
    https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/

if you are referring to the SBC on the Raspberry PI, then the supported is 20 ip Phones.
Also, note that on standard Debian stretch , depending on your hardware setup, the number of IP phones supported is higher.

Thanks for the reply. I will do that, thank you. This will work for our office, but I've got a client with offices in 2 different countries, so a clean install will be difficult. I was hoping to do this remotely with just an upgrade.

Same here, we have about 20/30 SBC's on different location's it would be more time consuming to do reinstalls and lots of company's already closed for the holiday's but we can still manage the SBC's remotely.

So please also provide a Upgrade manual.

Do I understand correctly that when my PBX is on Debian 8 (3cx v15.5) we must NOT use this new SBC version as it is on Debian 9?

This has nothing to do with PBX.
The SBC can be installed only on debian 9 (strech) and you can use it to connect to any 3CX PBX v15, which runs on any of the suported Linux(debian 8/9) or Windows platforms.

Certain MIME types such as .sh have been known to cause problems with proxy and firewalls hence why we use the .zip extension.
Your one-liner is a great suggestion but on some systems that do not have sudo, you would need to run the command as root without the sudo, like this:
    Code:
    su root
    wget http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/sbc/3cxsbc.zip -O - | bash

    Hello Andreaschr,

Could we use this link to update Debian 8 Jessie to Debian 9 Stretch or is it different for Raspberry Pi's

We hope to hear from you.
