I have a problem and i must be fixed.
If i setup a softphone or any other deivce outside my network. I get no audio. Unless i tunnel in. but not all decives support that.
Server is on a Public IP. with Nat disabled. No firewalls.

A common problem but many possible solutions. Does the "remote" extension have STUN enabled? Have you tried calls from only one outside hotspot, or a number, with the same problem? Is it no audio at all or one way audio?

I would recommend always using STUN on the remote end if the phone is behind a router that you have no control over to set port forwarding. If 3Cx is on a public IP and there is no firewall software running (something that could be blocking ports) then I'm not sure what would be blocking the audio ports but allowing ports 5060 and 5090 to get through. Does the firewall check on 3Cx pass? What does the 3Cx log look like when the far end initially registers (non tunnel), sometimes that can give a clue as to what is wrong.

OK, now I'm confused, where does the 3102 come into this?? I thought that you were calling back to an internal 3CX extension from a remote 3Cx extension? Nothing involving a PSTN line. So you are dialing back out to a landline? Do you get audio both ways from the external extension calling another extension on the same LAN as 3CX? If so then it's not a router/firewall port issue, it's something in the 3102 settings.

I'm seeing "transcoding" in the logs so it sounds like all of the SIP devices (the 3102)are not using the same codec. I'd go with G711u as first choice.

it's the same result both ways. if i call a ext say voice mail. i don't hear audio. if i call a ext number no audio.

Inside my LAN everything works great.

What are you behind at the "remote" end? Have you tried running the remote extension on the open net with a public IP. That would eliminate the router/firewall at the remote end as the problem. Obviously audio packets aren't able to get through to you.
Have you tried making calls from another location, different router?

What software are you using on the iPhone, that might be the cause of the trouble. i don't use one so I'm not familiar with any of the settings available. Used 3 different makes of Wifi phone, a couple of PC with the 3CX soft-phone and a number of ATA's and 95% of the time there is no problem. the only time I get issues is when certain public hotspots have some sort of port restrictions to prevent/restrict VoIP use and then I can usually get through using the tunnel. You may want to check out the forums dedicated to the app you are using on the iPhone.

Are you using the iPhone through WiFi or using your providers data service? I have heard of some mobile provider attempting to block the use of VoIP on their networks.

I also have this issue with Iphone and the acrobits softphone. Cannot get audio to work from this iphone sip app. Does work on several other providers. But cannot get it to work with 3cx, using same parameters as used in pther providers and 3cx does work with pc softphone sip apps.

Are you using the Acrobits softphone for iPhone?

    acrobits iphone 3cx settings

The usual cause of no audio will be that the RTP ports are not set correctly on the client SIP phone or the correct ports are not being forwarded to the 3CX server.

If you are using an iPhone with acrobits sip phone see the article below on configuring it to access externally through wifi so the audio traffic works.

I have this same problem using iSip and Weephone for iPhone. If I am inside my network, I can make and receive calls. If I am outside my network, I get one way audio. I have a public IP with all appropriate ports open and the problem occurs over 3G, Wifi, and regardless of whether I use STUN or not.

I was able to make this work from my home wifi network by adding stun.3cx.com into the stun field and, otherwise, following the instructions for Acrobits. However, calls over 3G still result in one-way audio.

    Hi there,

Does this work if you use WIFI in a different location to your PBX?

Yes, there are slightly different settings for inside and outside my network but I can make calls just fine from my home network.

I should mention that it does not (yet) work over 3G even though all three of the SIP phones I have on my iPhone now support calls over 3G.

hi, we are experiencing the same problem, works fantastically over wifi, but 3g no audio can be heard on the Iphone handset, and the call quality the person the other hears is very broken and poor. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
