If we install a windows client and then remove it and re-install it what is the impact in the phones list on the server.

I have noticed that under Phones that the list will change, why is this

Remove it from where? You mean remove it from the client PC, but leave the extension existing in the PBX? In that case, the extension in the PBX will simply show as UN-registered until such time as the client is installed again, provisioned, and re-registers.

I was referring to just removing the soft client from the PC not removing the extension. The extension is also on an iPad

As long as a registration, by a device, is successful, then 3CX is aware of all devices, even those with the same extension number. If you shut off a device, then 3Cx does not know it is gone until it is over-due for registration, or a call is attempted (and fails).

What is the registration process. Lets say a PC with the windows client is shutdown.

How long will it take before the phone is no longer registered.

PC is turned back on and the client is started as part of the PC Startup process, does the client at that time try and contact the 3CX server to register it it self.

The Client askes the 3CX Server for registration and provides its IP Address to the 3CX Server for Communication. Is this the process?

Usually you would probably see the phone there for up to another 2-3 minutes until the registration times-out.

Once 3CXPhone app is launched one of the first things it does is try to register, so yes.

Although the VoIP protocol is slightly more complex, but at a very simplistic level yes, that is pretty much what happens.

Thanks for the clarification
