Is there a way a user can pickup a call from another extension without the use of the 3CX Call Assistant app? If there isn't such a feature, perhaps it could be included in the next version?

By default the pickup code is *10*. It works at V3.

    Hi Mori,

Have you try out BLF at V5? My testing not too good. It just working. But not stable. The status indicator not always in correct status :(

I am using a Linksys SPA922 phone and I can't pickup using the suggested *10* sequence.

We tried *10* <extension> [Dial] and [Dial] *10*<extention> and it does not pickup.

Any suggestions what I may be doing wrong?

I believe that what you talking about is Call Parking, the *10* code is for example....
Someone calls from ext 101 to 304, you hear that phone ring and you know there isnt anyone there, so you dial *10* on your phone and you will pick up that call....

    Cheers

On V3 i configured manually to be 50 on the ini, but on V5 with our linksys and grandstream SIP phones we can pick another call with *20* but we have one fxs line with a SPA3102 and dont work with that.

Does anybody tried changing manually on the ini?

Does anyone know the answer for V5 already? I tried *10*, *20*, but it does not work.

What i did was adding the next line to 3CXPhoneSystem.ini

    [dialcodes]
pickup = 50 (or what ever number you want to pickup)

    and its working

what is about this case ?

room 1 with 2 workers and two phones ext 101 and 102

room 2 with 2 workers and two phones ext 201 and 202

there are two diferent calls at the same time for ext 101 and 202

and the workers at 102 and 202 want to take the phone call for their workmates 102 for 101 and 202 for that for 201.

if they use the *20* or what ever they place in the ini-file. who gets the call for witch extension? I´m shure this is not the worsed case cenario.

and think about that workers in room 1 can not hear the ringing in the other rooms! If they possible wait for a expectet call they possible say" Hi babe" to the CFO´s wife and get fired :)

Hmm.. propably a step back in the discussion, but what about using DR and ringgroups/queu to make calls fallback or frwrd to an available ext.?

First off all in the current version by default its *20*. But if I am not mistaken this is a feature available in every non-free version

I am confuesed by this feature/request.

What purpose is it serving? Is this a work around to shared line appearance?

Why would you want to pick up another users calls, why not just let it go to VM or have the inbound call goto a ring group with all parties.

I also believe that Call Parking would help in this scenario; however I have heard that this kindof works but have not tried it myself. Speaking of call parking does anyone have any info on setting it up?

    Because:

Maybe the user has a DDI (DID) which isn't in a call group, and has just nipped to lunch and their colleague has been briefed that there's an important call due in. Would you want to either (a) set up a call group for that one instance, or (b) let that important call go to voicemail??

In offices there's always been a need to pick up a colleague's extension without using a hunt group.

If tis call is that important, how about this user just use the webinterface at http://3cxserver/myphone/user_main.php and set his line forwarding this to either his own cellphone, or his colleauge?
It takes less than a minute changing this setting.

I agree, not to be smug but if the call is that important DONT GO TO LUNCH.

But seriously, I think you need to step away from the old analog way of doing things and embrace VoIP. Clearly there will not be an apples to apples comparison for ALL features. I think the ability to transfer on the fly as previously recommended is a great alternative. Also what about transferring this extension to a previously defined Ring Group for the duration of lunch. Even if the Ring Group is usually never used just set it up for this purpose and transfer as needed.
