This question has been asked and answered many times in this forum, a little 5 seconds search would have given you the answer...

Here's my batch file for restarting the services anyway... I'm not using the fax service, but if you're using it, remove the ":" in front of its 2 lines.

    Code:
    NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem"
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Database Server"
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Digital Receptionist"
:NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem FAX Server"
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Media Server"
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Voicemail Manager"
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Web Server"
NET STOP "3CX SIP/RTP Tunneling Proxy"

    ping 127.0.0.1
    ping 127.0.0.1
    ping 127.0.0.1

NET START "3CX PhoneSystem Database Server"
    NET START "3CX PhoneSystem"
NET START "3CX PhoneSystem Digital Receptionist"
:NET START "3CX PhoneSystem FAX Server"
NET START "3CX PhoneSystem Media Server"
NET START "3CX PhoneSystem Voicemail Manager"
NET START "3CX PhoneSystem Web Server"
NET START "3CX SIP/RTP Tunneling Proxy"

    exit

FYI this does not work with Vista and User Account Control turned on. If you turn off UAC then it works fine.

How do people running Vista restart? Each service manually in Services?

    Check the following link:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...ation-in-administrator-mode-on-windows-vista/

It shows you how to always start an application in Administrator's mode (like the article says: This works perfectly for creating a batch file to restart a service, for instance.)

One could then create a shortcut to your batch file and use the above procedure to always start it with Admin privileges.

    I run 3Cx on Vista Business SP1

Whenever I try to restart or stop the 3CX PhoneSystem service it hangs.

I have to reboot to restart the server.

Are using the .bat file to start/restart? Or are you going into Services and manually starting/stopping that individual service?

I've tried both, with and without UAC, and running bat as administrator.

Have you tried entering "pause" at the end of the .bat file? That when when the command window opens it will stay open and may give you a reason to why you are unable to start/stop the service.

Sometimes when I try to stop the main 3CX Phone System service (3CX PhoneSystem), it also hungs. It happens about 1 out of 2 times I try to stop it. Try changing the stop order. Try to stop all other 3CX services first and leave the 3CX PhoneSystem service to be the last one. See if it works...

By not stopping the 3Cx PhoneSystem service but letting it stop with the database server appears to work.

Will monitor (I don't want to keep stopping and starting the server as people may want to make phone calls).

I found when you manually start the 3CX Phone System the database server service automatically starts. So it looks like those go hand and hand (makes sense), and I've encountered a message stating by stopping one the either will stop. I can't seem to replicate that now, but you may just need to change the stopping order as coelhopsi recommended to stop the database server first, which you've seen worked.

    Good luck :)

Unfortunately the batch doesn't work so great for v7. Do the services have to restart in a different order or something?

I wrote the following batch file, it will do the job with v8, just put it in a batch file and execute it. I dont know if it is in the the perfect order, but all the services will stop and start.

NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Database Server" /y
NET STOP "3CX PhoneSystem Digital Receptionist" /y
