Hi I am getting confused with the Session Border Controller setup. I have v15 3cx in one office and v15 session border controller in another. Both offices have Vigor 2830 Firewall/Router all firewall tests have passed. The phones behind the SBC work fine most of the time then suddenly we get one way audio.

The remote phones on the SBC are not on DHCP there is only 6 of them, static IP is setup and DNS. The phones are all Yealink T42G and I have followed the SBC setup and remote phones setup on 3CX website so on each phone I have

SIP Server 192.168.10.1 port 5060 - this is local IP of remote 3CX v15 system
Outbound Proxy 192.168.18.110 - port 5060 - this is local IP of the Session Border Controller

However I noticed that in some instructions for setting up phones on remote it says outbound proxy should be 5080 but if I change this the phone will not register yet when I do change it to 5080 the phone appears in the Phones list ready for provisioning. If I set it back to 5060 the phone registers but shows as Not Supported in the phones list.

Also keep getting these in the SBC logs
    ERR | 20160815-120750.904 | 3CXTunnel | TUNL | 3300 | Rtp.cpp:143 | Error reading from RTP socket 476, {RS:56766}: error 10054

Just to clarify if someone can just confirm to me when using session border controller with SIP phones behind what IP and ports should be used in the SIP Server field and outbound proxy?

I am assuming the SIP Server is local IP or remote 3cx system with port 5060 and Outbound proxy is the local IP of the session border controller again with port 5060?

I cannot find any documentation on the Session Border Controller and setup of phones behind it, at least nothing stating what ports and IP addresses that should be used.

    Hello there,

Please make sure you are using the latest SBC for windows for V15. You can download this from here: http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXSBC15.msi

Also please follow the following guide for installing and configuring the SBC
    http://www.3cx.com/docs/3cx-sbc-windows/

About the issue you are facing note that the Yealink phones you use are fully supported and you can auto-provision them through the management console so you should not have to make any manual configuration to them.

From what i can see from the provided screenshot you also need to upgrade the firmware on the phones to the latest supported one which is 29.80.0.130.

Also i can see that your extension name is Hot Desk, don't know if you are using hot desking but know that this is not yet implemented for V15 and it will not properly work.

    Hi thanks for replying.

Yes we did update the SBC to version 15 and installed as per the guide, we also used the guide on 3cx website for setup of Draytek Vigor routers which we use at remote and hosting sites.

I updated all the firmware on the phones last night as well as the latest update for 3CX v15, so all show correct now.

We are not using the Hot desking, that simply refers to a desk used by multiple people rather than hot desk feature.

However after doing all of that we still had issue this morning with one way audio and after restarting the 3CX Session Border Controller it went away and probably will work all day until some time tomorrow morning.

We have all the ports open on the firewall as per 3CX website and the bandwidth QoS controls in place. Firewall checks all passed in 3cx console.

Can you confirm that in the setup of the desk phones the SIP Server should be set to remote 3cx system and Outbound Proxy is the Session Border Controller IP and both should have port 5060 as that is what we have.

Thanks for your reply, just this is urgent now and if not resolved will have to be pulled out.

    Ben

Just provisioned a Yealink phone behind the SBC and as you can see from the attached screenshot the sip server and the outbound proxy server are both the SBC on port 5060.
The phone doesn't "know" the PBX IP as the SBC acts as a proxy and sends the Audio to the PBX.

Have you auto-provisioned the phones or are they manually provisioned?

Please also make sure that you have SIP ALG disabled on both firewalls.

The phones are provisioned but they are not on DHCP, IP addressing is set manually on them. We have the local IP address of the remote 3cx system in the phone SIP Server field as something has to be in that fields to save the settings.

Yes the Outbound proxy is set to the SBC with port 5060.

Yes as per the instructions SIP ALG is disabled on all firewalls.

As you can see from screen shots attached of firewall config showing remote pbx firewall and that one the SBC is behind. 192.168.10.1 local IP of 3CX PBX, 192.168.18.110 is remote site with SBC.

The remote site with the session border controller is running over ADSL2+ and the site with the 3CX PBX is running on FTTC line.

We do have another site with 3CX v14 setup and after changing firewall at that site with Draytek Vigor firewall/router all problems at that site have gone however it has no SBC connecting into it.

Forgot to attach screenshot in previous reply. Please find it attached on this reply.

Both SIP server and Proxy server should have the IP of the SBC and port 5060. Please try configure them like the screenshot attached and let us know

I made those changes to each handset last night, this morning after first call came in successfully each handset whilst showing registered kept getting Forbidden when trying to call out.

We restarted the 3CX SBC and still no change, we had to restart 3CX SIP Service on the remote phone system to get the phones working again.

Getting the same problem - everything up to date, SBC, server and firmwares.

Have to keep restarting the SBC PC.

Regarding the one-way audio, which direction is having the problem? So in the example ext 100 behind the SBC calls number 65498713, who can't hear who, the ext 100 cannot hear or the user behind 65498713 cannot hear?

Mine is outbound audio is ok, so someone calls out from ext 100, ext 100 cannot hear but the other end of the call can. I have 6 phones connected to the system over session border controller and 1 phone local to the PBX, the phone local to the PBX always works even when one way audio occurs.

Before today we only ever needed to restart the SBC service to get the calls working again, but this morning we had to restart the SIP service. The only change made overnight was previously as suggested that the SIP Server IP and port are made the same as the Outbound Proxy and port.

An just to be sure and remove any complex network issues the 3cx PBX is connected directly to the Vigor router on a dedicated FTTC connection and at the end where the SBC is again a dedicated ADSL connection.

    [---------SITE 1 HOSTING-----------]--------------------[--------------SITE 2 REMOTE---------------------------------------------------]
    3CX PBX <--> VIGOR ROUTER <--> FTTC <<>> ADSL <--> VIGOR ROUTER <--> 3CX SBC <--> NETWORK SWITCH <--> PHONES
