Usually it happens that you group extensions by location/DID/department or whatsoever.

It kills me to punch in the Outbound callerID into each and every extension.
Please, allow some general settings to the extension groups, like callerID.

Additionally to that, there just should be more of global group settings.

    Hmm...
Do you mean for DIDs? or for shared Outbound caller ID.

I've yet to fill in that field and the shared Outbound caller ID shows fine.

I am not quite sure what you ment by that.

You cannot setup Outbound Caller ID to a DID, because DID has nothing to do with the outbound calls.

Currently you can set it up in your Trunk configuration, or at the extensions one by one.
I want to be able to group the extensions and setup the Outbound Caller ID to a group of 'em.

I think what the OP is going for (and I agree)...

    1. A/R Department Group - Outbound DID 555-555-1234 - everyone in the AR Group will have this show as their outbound caller ID
    2. I.T. Department Group - Outbound DID 555-555-5678 - everyone in IT will have this show as their outbound DID rules
    3. Reception group - Outbound DID - 555-555-9012
      etc

Of course, if a user is a member of multiple groups, how do we handle that case? Should it be based on "group priority"?
    • Default group - priority 0 - anyone not in a group get's this
    • All other groups - priority is configurable from 1 -> X

Highest priority group for each user "wins"?
Individual DID / Outbound Caller ID settings would over-rule the group.

The above map works on a "Least granular to most granular" settings basis which works well in my head, at least.

Oh, I haven't thought about that.
    Nice point.

But, yeah, that was exactly what I was going for.

Seems like we should be able to set the outbound caller-ID on a "per rule" basis in the outbound routes.

Jason, how do you do that?
Is that done by setting the rule name?

Otherwise I do not see such an option in outbound rule configs.

An easy option (for 3CX programmers) is allowing the change of "Outbound caller ID" field in multiple extension editing mode. However, I find the ideas of Zergfest very interesting.

For example: Add a check box near "outbound caller ID" which says "use group outbound caller ID" and after it a drop list to chose which group (includes all the groups that the extension is member of) caller ID to use.

I've found a way of doing this, using the Source CID patterns in port tab "other options".

Though, having a "Outbound Caller ID" field would ease a workload.
