    Hi all,

    This is a 2-part question:

    1) I'm using an i-mate SP5 for mobile calls - does anyone here use a SIP client for WM5 or WM6 phones? and if so, what do you think of it?

    2) Is anyone using a wireless SIP handset? and if so, which model and what do you think of it?

    Cheers,
    Mike.

    Hi,

For WM5 xlite had a smart software beta to this devices. Works fine but the headset was the external from the phone.

In WM6, I use the own WM voIP feature. Works fine and is 100% functional.

In some WM6 smartphones, the features is not installed by default.
You must follow the next steps: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Vox

It runs OK in all WM6 Smaartphone.

    Thanks guys.

I had already downloaded Fring last night, but it wouldn't register against my 3CX. Was there a technique i'm missing?

    Cheers,
    Mike.

I cant directly answer your question, but i can tell you that this is an area we wish to really support/focus on.

We are getting our hands on a Windows Mobile 6 phone as well as Nokia with SIP client. We are planning full interoperability testing and are interested to hear about experiences of others and any problems you might have.

I configured my T-Mobile Dash with fring.com, then just add it the info of the 3CX server and just work i was a little amazed how easly it was and how good it work.

I was showing it to a client and just that sell the software for itself, its a very nice feature because now on a hotspot i can make free local calls or international calls (not free but almost) and recibe calls that are made to my office to my phone.

As i say its not perfect because depends on wifi and internet.

Nick, we already have a bunch of WM5 and WM6 phones in our client-base since another of our services sold to the customer is hosted MS Exchange services and DirectPush to mobiles.

Let me know if/when you have a beta planned for this, as I would definitely be interested.

Currently Fring looks good as it integrates well into the WM5 phone book etc, and I can make the test call to Fring correctly, but the client just refuses to connect to either of my 3CX deployments :(

I think what we're crying out for is a SIP client (both desktop and mobile) which takes into account that we'd want to deploy technology like this to idiots instead of techies :) i.e. the less abstract functions and obscure registration procedures the better!

Yes, and I was also trying it inside the LAN with our wifi and it wouldn't work there either.

What are you using to register? your extension number @ your 3cx implementation ip address or domain name? or something else?

Are you also filling in the proxy address at all?

fring works well olso with nokia E65

    it's very simply to configure

    User: (number of EXT)
    pass: (pass of EXT)

gateway: (public ip of the Server 3cx) with the domain name won't work

if don't work there are problem in Nat ore Firewall configuration

Does anyone know of software that will allow SIP on a Blackberry 8820, 8100 or 8320?

I finally got it working with my setup today.

Basically, it looks like the SIP client expects STUN or at least to be able to resolve the external IP of the 3CX server, and won't work on an internal IP (which is a bit weird). I wonder whether it tries to do it's registration via GPRS though, despite me having wifi enabled and calls going through that.

Ah well, it works now, and the main reason was actually that the new release of v5 seems to work MUCH better than the old one.

Just to be clear, my post quoted above referred to using Fring on a WM5 smartphone.
