    Whenever I see arguments against this, people say there are plenty of ways to handle incoming calls. In my mind it's just not about incoming calls, it's about placing outgoing calls and having the right CallerId # shown. There are times if I'm calling someone I'd prefer our 888 support line to be shown, and others when I want my direct line shown. I don't have that choice.

    Agree, also sometimes you want a secretary to be able to monitor manager's extension, so secretary's phone will ring when Manager's phone rings.
    With outbound caller ID, if you can register your support number as a different Trunk, you can use a prefix that you strip on the outbound rule to get that caller ID.
