We plan to localize the voice prompts and provide them for public download.

In fact, if any users are ready to help us with this we will give away a free version of our software. You have to use localised voice, i.e if you want dutch you would have to purchase a dutch text to speech voice, rather then trying to use an american voice with dutch texts. So it might involve purchasing a dutch "voice talent" This site sells some multilingual text to speech: http://nextup.com/

Email us at info@3cx.com if you want to localize prompts for public download.

    Nick,

Is there an app you recommend?

Also are there voice transcripts you can share with us? Which we can use to generate these prompts?

How many languages are there available now?

Ok here is the deal for ya.

Send me the text of the voice files you want (each individual, so for example one will be een is one txt file).

So if you want a welcome message like:

welkom bij the grijze, je kunt bla bla bla

That will be one text file.

I will than convert them to speech for ya.

    How does that sound.

    H.

    Hi there...

http://www.nextup.com also provides the basic application to convert text to speech.

I think it was called TextAloud, and it bundled some starter voices.

    Regards

    @itfarmer, that sound fine :lol:
But making a own (Dutch spoken) prompt audio file is no prob: but all the existing sound files, in the 3CX Phone System software are Englisch and i am looking for a Dutch version of those sound files.
So is is there someone with a Dutch translation/version of those all ready existing sound files in the 3CX Phone System software, and are you willing to share those?

    Thanks.
    Gerard

If it is only the audio prompts that already are in 3CX, I will have a go at that.

It is only the funny buttons that might need some feedback from you for example:

    # this can be spoke like "Hash", "Pound", "Hekje"

I got a lot of english voices from a job I done way back for large telcos and IVR systems not sure how they go with NL speak but Ill give it a try.

I guess the "Hash(ies)" button might be a bit too populair in the Netherlands (i can say that as i grew up there LOL) [Hashies is dutch for weed  which is sort of legal] I wished we had such a button when I went through Uni

Anyway Ill have a go at it a little later this week, and of course I will share them with you. That is where this forum is all about is it not ?

    Thanks.

To help you a little bit on the way, # = 'Hekje' and the other one that looks like a 'star' is in Dutch named 'Sterretje'

    Thanks again.

If some one has a list all the "to be spoken text/prompts" I can make it available in mp3 or wav.

    NPIERSMA.

    Have a look in:

    CX PhoneSystem\Data\Ivr\Prompts\Sets\8210986B-9412-497f-AD77-3A554F4A9BDB\SetInfo.xml

That is where the IVR prompts are in XML

What I am doing at the moment, and it is slow as my dutch is not that flash hot anymore, is translating the Descriptions in that file.

Than I take those and run them to text-to-speech (mind you english voice speaking dutch)

I hope to get a decent dutch translation out of that.

If you are able to translate the descriptions in the XML file that would be great.

Just a follow up on this post,

I finished the english to dutch translation of the text.

next step will be the creation of the voice files, that might take a little longer.

    Here you got guys...

The translated XML file, no voices as yet, but we will see how we go on the weekend.

Keep in mind that, unless stated otherwise, this is not supported by 3CX as yet. They have not had the chance to review it correctly.

All voice files and final translation files will be released by 3cx after they had the chance to have a look at it an to test them.

I have not started the voice recordings as yet...

Well they do not sound really dutch :), you get that with a german voice.

I do not have a real dutch voice on the system, hence the german voice.

    Download these test files:

    http://www.3cx.com.au/downloads.html

and see if they are acceptable.

If not I guess I have to have a chat with 3CX for some funding :).

Let me know guys, I will park this untill i get some feedback from you guys.
