Unsupported Media Type

    We have upgraded some of our 3CX servers in our business to V15.5 but we are starting to get weird INVITE SIP messages from these servers to registered phone that our phones then send back a 415 Unsupported Media Type Error.

    The Message Body only contains the below data being sent to the phone.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>\r\n
    <RequestSystemStatus xmlns="http://www.ecma-international.org/standards/ecma-323/csta/ed3" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" />

    Has anyone seen this before?

    It suggests that compatible Codecs are not available during registration/call set up. Check to see if the Codec lists have been limited/modified in the devices.

    The codecs match on all extensions that are sending back the error.

    The INVITE request is coming from the server as if it is trying to make a call, not a REGISTER request.

    This is an error indicating that your phones do not support the new uaCSTA functionality of V15.5 that is used by the web client. What phones do you have? Have you upgraded their firmware and templates to the supported versions for V15.5?

    We use Yealink phones and their firmware has been updated.

    Where do we get the latest templates for V15.5? The only ones we have are the ones that were restored from our previous backup.

    The templates should be under the updates section of the PBX. If you are using custom templates these are not auto replaced by the new default ones so you will need to re-provision the phones with the new default templates

    Is there any way to get 3CX to stop sending these invites? I fixed the rejected message but the invites still get sent out. We have almost 600 extensions so when we try a wireshark capture, it makes it impossible to find the call we are looking for with so many of these messages going out. It's not like I can filter out Invite SIP messages either since those are important.

    Glad the errors have been fixed but unfortunately there is no way to disable the invites for auCSTA as without the invites the CSTA capabilities will be lost. CSTA is now used for status updates like DND, the connection to the new web client etc so it is a big part of the functionality if the phones.
