I and therefore we would love to use voice recognition in the IVR menu. like apple, and TNT are having. And many many more companies...

We are a Medical facility with a few blind patients. They have voice assistive technologies that allow them to call us but then they have to push the buttons on the phone for the auto attendant. Voice commands to contact a nurse or billing would be a very nice feature.

There is a poor-man's approach to doing this now using the Call Flow Designer. In the CFD you can prompt the caller to speak. For example. "Please say the service you need. For example, to pay your bill say 'billing' or for nursing say 'nurse'". then record their response and get the resulting wav file. Then use speech-to-text to get what they said and take the appropriate action. Your next question is "how long does that take to process" and the answer is very quick. The user will never know that we are performing all these tasks in the background. Maybe half a second on a reasonably powered system.
