Internal calls are fine but when external user registers client their voice is very choppy. I have the extension set for external user and bind to media server. If I don't set both options I go no sound at all from extenal user. I this a media server issue or just crappy banwith on my part perhaps. I have tested my upload at 230 kbps at speedtest.com they tell me this is great for their adsl service. Any suggestions

Looks more like the connection isnt handling it, even thoug 230Kbps upload would be enough for 1 call. Make sure no one is acessing the internet, and try to set another Codec, one with a lower bandwith usage.
Cheers

I fixed a number of my voice challenges by adjusting the QOS in my router

Some will say, and correctly, that QoS will not fulfill its potential unless its supported by your ISP. I found that enabling it on my network was a major improvement since at least the VoIP packets were "first out of the gate" on my upstream connection, and not fighting with the Data packets. If your router has the option, give it a try. But be prepared for some sometimes appreciable slow down on the Data side.

QOS and Voip

I had the same problem. My Firewall Sux (Microsoft ISA 2004) and rather than replacing it I purchased a VOIP QOS module from DLINK. You can read more about it here

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=426

This little dude does the QOS for you in case you are too cheap to purchase a router that has tagging built in. Hope that helps.

QOS

Well Lucky me my el cheapo linksys has QOS and that fixed the problem thanks all for the help.

Sweetness, just be carefull, A while back I had a SRX2000 Wireless Gateway. Turning the QOS on made it really angry. Especially with UPNP enAbled

Cheers!
