KeenSystems provides a reseller portal from which resellers can manage all the SIP Trunk accounts they have.
Creating a SIP Account
The first you must do is log into the portal with the credentials that KeenSystems has provided you with. The login can be found here: https://keenconnect.eu/.
Once you have logged in, go to “Beheer” → “Klanten” and you will see a list of all your existing customers’ accounts. From here, you can either edit the account of a customer or create a new customer account.
Once you have created or edited a customer account, go to the “SIP Accounts” option and you will be presented with all the SIP Accounts you have for this customer. To create a new SIP Account, click on the icon shown below:
Inside the new SIP Account settings, there are a few values you need to set.
1. SIP Account Authentication ID
This will be used later in this guide to configure your trunk in 3CX. There is always a preset prefix for this field, e.g. “3cx-“. If in the field you enter e.g. “myaccount”, this means that your full SIP Account Authentication ID will be “3cx-myaccount”.
2. SIP Account Authentication Password
This will be used later in this guide to configure your trunk in 3CX. It is highly advisable that you enter a complex password or use the password generation button next to the field.
3. SIP options
Here you need to set:
- Request URI opmaak: Geregistreerd contact
- To: header opmaak: E164 nummer
- Caller ID formaat: E164 nummer
- DTMFMode: RFC2833
- Audio Codec: Automatisch
4. Voice channels
The “Spraakkanalen” value controls how many simultaneous calls this SIP Account will be able to service. Set the value as you see fit. As “best practice” advice, the value you set here should match the “Number of SIM Calls” the Trunk Settings in 3CX. This will be explained in the next section of this guide.
5. IP Restrictions
Although this is optional, it is highly advisable. If your 3CX has a Static Public IP, it is recommended that you enter your Public IP here. This means that this SIP Trunk account won’t be able to register from any other IP. If your 3CX system does not have a Static Public IP, it is best to leave this field empty.
Note: If your Static Public IP change, make sure you change the IP in this settings otherwise your SIP Account won’t work!
Once you have filled in the above fields, press “Opslaan” to save the settings.
Acquiring Numbers for your SIP Account
Now that you have created a SIP Account, you must allocate numbers to it. To do this go to “Beheer” → “Klanten”, edit your customer account and press on the "Nummers beheren" option.
Here you will see a list of all the numbers you have allocated to the customer account. You can either allocate an existing number to your SIP Account by selecting a number and pressing the “SIP Accounts” button, or you can purchase a new number.
Once you have created the SIP Account and assigned numbers to it, you are now ready to configure your KeenSystems Trunk in 3CX.
Configuring the Trunk with 3CX
The general instructions outlining how to add a new SIP Trunk to your 3CX installation can be found here.
Adding the Trunk
Go to “SIP Trunks” and select “Add SIP Trunk”
- Select Country: NL
- Select Provider in your Country: KeenSystems
- Main trunk number: This will have been provided to you by KeenSystems. You must enter the number in the E.164 number format (e.g. +31852733645)
- Press OK
Under the “General” tab in the “Authentication” section, fill in your Authentication ID and Password that were collect in section “Creating a SIP Account” of the guide.
At this point you may also want to adjust the value of “Number of SIM Calls” to match what you have set in the KeenSystems portal, as described in the previous section.
Once you have filled in these fields as given to you by KeenSystems, scroll to the top of the page and press OK. At this point if you refresh the page you should see your KeenSystems Trunk appear as Registered.
Adding Additional DIDs
To associate all other DIDs/Numbers you have in your KeenSystems account with 3CX, go to the Management Console → SIP Trunks, double-click on your KeenSystems Trunk and go to the “DIDs” tab.
Here you should already see 1 entry; this is the Main Trunk number you have set. Add all other DIDs/Numbers you have to the list in an E.164 number format (e.g. +31852733645) and press OK.
Creating Inbound Rules
Now that you have associated all your DIDs/Numbers with your SIP Trunk in 3CX, you can create Inbound Rules to set where calls will be routed when those numbers are called. Instructions on how to create Inbound Rules can be found here.
When configuring KeenSystems SIP Trunks in 3CX, all numbers should be entered in an E.164 number format (e.g. +31852733645), otherwise call routing will fail.
Outbound Caller ID
KeenSystems Trunks by default does not support Clip No Screening, but can be enabled as a separate service. To do so, you will have to contact your KeenSystems reseller.
When Clip No Screening is enabled, on Outgoing Calls you can present any number you want as Caller ID. For this to work, when configuring the Outbound Caller ID in 3CX, make sure that you enter the numbers in an E.164 format (e.g. +31852733645).
When configuring your Outbound Rules make sure that all numbers are dialed either in the National (e.g. 0852733645) or International (e.g. 0031852733645) format.
More information about how to create Outbound Rules and how they work can be found here.
