Orbtalk allows you to purchase Numbers and SIP Trunks online. This guide assumes that you have already purchased the desired numbers and SIP Trunks and will focus on what needs to be done after.
Before configuring your Orbtalk SIP Trunk in 3CX, there are some settings that need to be done in the Orbtalk portal first. The credentials for the portal will have either been given to you by a Orbtalk representative or will have been acquired when you signed up online.
Configuring the SIP Trunk
The first thing you need to do is to log into the Orbtalk portal and navigate to “SIP Services” → “Trunks”. Here you should already see an entry which is the SIP Trunk you have purchased.
Make note of the Username value as this will be used as the “Authentication ID” in section “Configuring the Trunk with 3CX” later in this guide. Next press the “Configuration” button.
Now, set the “Label” name to something that will help you identify this trunk within the Orbtalk portal. This will be especially helpful if you have multiple SIP Trunks under the same account.
Next, you must set the Password for this trunk and make note of it. This will be used as the “Authentication Password” in section “Configuring the Trunk with 3CX” later in this guide.
Once you are done, press “Save” and apply the changes to the Trunk
Once you have configured your SIP Trunk, the next step is to associate the numbers you want the Trunk. To do this go to “SIP Services” → “Number Routing”. Select the numbers you want and press the “Reroute” button.
Now select the SIP Trunk you want these numbers to be associated with and press the “Save” button.
It is also important to make note of the DID Numbers you associated with the SIP Trunk as you will need them in section “Configuring the Trunk with 3CX”.

Adding the Trunk
Before reading this section, make sure you have followed the instructions and gathered in the information outlined in the previous section “Orbtalk Portal”. Specifically you will need to know the:
- Authentication ID
- Authentication Password
- The DID Numbers you associated with your SIP Trunk
The general instructions outlining how to add a new SIP Trunk to your 3CX installation can be found here.
Go to “SIP Trunks” and select “Add SIP Trunk”
- Select Country: UK
- Select Provider in your Country: Orbtalk
- Main trunk number: Enter one of the numbers associated with your SIP Trunk in the International format (e.g. 442033272020)
- Press OK
Under the “General” tab, in the “Authentication” section enter your Authentication ID and Password as collected in section “Orbtalk Portal”.
Once you have filled in these field, scroll to the top of the page and press OK. If you refresh the page you should see your Orbtalk Trunk appear as Registered.
Adding Additional Numbers/DIDs
To associate all other DIDs/Numbers you have in your Orbtalk account with 3CX, go to the Management Console → SIP Trunks, double-click on your Orbtalk Trunk and go to the “DIDs” tab.
Here you should already see 1 entry that is the Main Trunk number you have set. Add all other DIDs/Number you have to the list in the International number format (e.g. 442033272020) and press OK once you have finished.
Creating Inbound Rules
Now that you have associated all your DIDs/Number with your SIP Trunk in 3CX, you can create Inbound Rules to set where calls will be routed when those numbers are called. Instructions on how to create Inbound Rules can be found here.
When configuring Orbtalk SIP Trunks in 3CX, all numbers should be entered in an International format (e.g. 442033272020), otherwise call routing may fail.
Outbound Caller ID
Orbtalk SIP Trunks do not support Clip No Screening which means you can only present
DID’s that are registered under the trunk. To do this, in all 3CX fields where the Outbound Caller ID can be set, the number must be entered in an International number format (e.g. 442033272020).
There are no special instructions regarding Outbound Rules that are required, numbers can be dialed in any valid number format.
More information about how to create Outbound Rules and how they work can be found here.
