What happens to v18 installs after the end of the year?

Everyone,

I am in the process of upgrading my customers to v20, but I have one that is having a hard time due to the number of groups and inbound rules they currently have. What exactly will happen to their v18 instance after the end of the year? Will the current feature set continue to work?

So the system will immediately revert to the free version? I know that, in the past, when an update was missed that allowed 3CX to continue to reach the activation server, the system would keep working but it would not see any updates or changes to the license. I was hoping this was something similar.

Oh, that isn't ideal, really we need to get communication out to our customers with 30 days notice if we are changing anything, and that is coming up very quickly.

Yes, ~10, we have mostly paid for but there are a few very small businesses we have systems for.

Best moment to offer them the benefits of a paid licence. Its still not very expensive. Or you can switch to SMB.

Are we talking licensed versions? If yes these will continue to work no problem. Its just that your android PUSH will no longer work and iOS sometime in March will stop working

Hi Nick - Thank you for the post. So, if a customer has a paid version and stays on v18 update 9a (or whatever the latest is), their system isn't going to just stop working on 1/1/2025? Is that correct? They only use physical phones, and they host their own server. They have phones with custom firmware and the update to 20 is going to break the phones until we can get a work around. I am a 3cx novice, but can't have the system to brick on 1/1/2025. Thank you!

No problem @2cx novice - Absolutely it will not brick. There will be no more updates though, so if there is a high security vulnerability you will have to upgrade it to V20 or take the risk..... Also push wont work but that does not matter to you as you use IP Phones.

So everything will work as is ...
