Or you can do what a hotel owner I support does. You have no desk-phones in the rooms. Zero.
Are you United States (US) based? If so, I'm curious what jurisdiction(s) doesn't require you to have a phone in each room of a hospitality business.

How will the 22nd October renewal date work?
We paid our reseller on 14th October (we have receipts to show this) but he did not process the renewal until 23rd October. Will this put us in the April 2026 or October 2026 period?

From license renewal date... Are you wanting to have extra time to move out to a new solution? If yes we can give you time no problem

No, we are a school just needing to upgrade to Ent 32SC from our current Ent 16SC and trying to figure out if it can wait until our next renewal period next year. Usually we only make licensing changes / renewals once a year so trying to figure out how everything works.

Do you need Enterprise? Any case for customers like yourselves we will make an easy solution probably you will not need to change anything until renewal ... But also if you are educational you can get a discount.. Give us some time to work out the process

Not US but a budget hotel I stayed in once upon a time only used Whatsapp. It was great - i had to interact with no one! "need extra pillow room 123" xD Ive been in hotels with phones and some little shits would prank your room every now and then

I don't think it's so great for the hotel because it's not so easy to process across a team. And for the guest who has to add the hotel as a WhatsApp contact I don't see it easier at all. And all this to save $500 a year? Really? doesn't sound like a professional hotel. I stayed at the big hotel in Germany once where you had to call a normal number which was not behind the PBX to call the reception. It was terrible. Super customer unfriendly. Just to save $2000 or something per year
.crazy

I am confused... I have been reading a lot about the changes lately and yes, there are changes, yes there is a price increase, yes there are new limits, BUT... there is constant innovation... CONSTANT! For a product that simply works. And it works well.

We pay thousands of $$$ for other products, like Microsoft Windows Servers and Desktop OSs that are badly implemented and infested with security holes while at the same time they are providing zero support unless you pay for it! And they get worse every month. Now MS is switching everyone to a subscription model and just like that everyone is ok with that too. Zero conversation about the unresolved security issues.

I don't see why 3CX should be the cheapest even though from my comparisons, it is still cheaper than other solutions when you compare apples to apples and not apples to paperclips. They provide a solid product with a great support team behind it.

The same way we pay for what you mentioned here, we should be budgeting for 3CX. Yes, it is a cost. But you need it if you want a phone in every room. Or you can do what a hotel owner I support does. You have no desk-phones in the rooms. Zero.
But you offer it as a free add-on like the digital key. And if the customer wants it, you send them the invite, they download the app and use it. Exactly like they use the digital key. IF they want it. Unused extensions problem solved. Just my 2c
First of all I think 3CX and all it's innovations etc. are worth it looking from a office user perspective but as soon as we look at other industries which majorly consist of extension which do not have the demand for any advanced functions the model simply breaks. For instance our bill will increase by almost 6x.

And you are right - we can choose not to put phones in rooms anymore but this is a business and not an it decision overall. Oh and there are different regulatory rules which partly demand phones in the rooms e.g. to maintain a certain service rating for hotels.

So if business decides to keep the rooms we need an alternative solution which does not break the it budget thinking this in scale.

Hello
What do i need to do to ask for potentially extra time to handle either the reduction of extension numbers or upgrade of license?
Should i send you a DM to explain our situation a bit?

Hi HannesCLP:

Absolutely, I get that it’s a business decision, and regulatory requirements are a factor. But from a technology and reliability perspective, guests expect phones to work without a hitch. It doesn’t make sense to propose arbitrary ratios like 1:10-1:15 the risk is clear: guests might not be able to make calls when they need to. I wonder if hotels fully consider that reality when making this decision. At the end of the day, phones aren’t just hardware, they’re a critical part of guest experience and trust.

I am totally with you on that and for any new solution we will be considering this as a requirement. On the other side there are solutions out there which provide all of this offering a SC-based pricing but I think this is not the right place to discuss this.

My hope is to find a solution with 3CX for industries like ours because I like the product :-)

Yes, there are other solutions in the market. What matters, and we really appreciate, is that you see the value in 3CX. Based on our data and market experience, a reliable, easy-to-manage phone system is essential for accelerating growth, improving guest satisfaction, and even boosting reviews, which often matter more than star ratings.

We’ll continue delivering a solid platform with the features businesses need. And just as a tip: many hotels are now turning to AI agents to provide faster, more reliable service. I hope you’re already taking a look at our AI Agents, they’re becoming a key advantage in hospitality. :)

We have some dummy extensions on many of our Clients 3CX systems for different reasons. I am concerned these are going to use up our extension allowance.

- System owner for our admin access. Since V20 we have had to have an extension for the system owner. No phones are assigned to this.
- Speed dial extensions.
- Divert to Mobiles.
- Divert to an external number where a digital receptionist doesn't allow this.
- Operator extension that is only used to catch callers that press * to divert to the operator, This then forwards to a queue instead of an operator.

I understand the need for fair use but perhaps you need to take into account a need for at least a few dummy extensions.

Ideally, just a way to flag an account as "User" or "System" would sort most of the issues which have been raised here in one way or another.

User = Warm Body
System = Admin Account, Voicemail Box, Virtual Ext, Forwarding, Old User (like how you can convert a M365 to Shared Mailbox when they leave). etc.

If an account is flagged as "System" then perhaps you can't add a IP Phone to it and make calls?
The making calls part might be tricky because of the way call forwarding and the headers works, but I'm sure the 3CX team have thought of that already.

Best
Lance

I'd like to second an ability to specify users that are only used for administration and not as end-users. It's not uncommon to have systems with 3-4 users that are specifically system owners/administrators, some organisations require separate accounts for administrators for auditing purposes.

Also, if there's any chance of creating a user role for MCM/Multi-tenant that can administrate multiple tenancies I can imagine that I wouldn't be the only one to see a benefit. We've had a bit of uptake in multi-tenant including clients moving away from 4SC, but one effect that we're seeing is that we have MSP partners that have multiple tenants set up, and we're needing to set up an Owner account in each for them.
