Hello 3CX Support Team,

I am currently running a self-hosted instance of 3CX on Windows 11and have been trying to upgrade from version v18 build 9 to version 20. Unfortunately, I don't have the option to upgrade to v20.

Despite following the upgrade instructions provided in the 3CX documentation, I am still unable to proceed. I have verified that all system requirements are met and have reviewed the logs, but I am unable to identify the cause of the issue.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps you can provide to help me resolve this issue. If there are any specific logs or additional information you need, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your prompt response.

Best regards,

On Windows there isn't a direct self-upgrade between major versions. You need to uninstall, install v20, and restore from backup.

Thanks Steve, Can you provide the relevant steps for this, with URL's etc?

Just download the latest Windows installer from your customer portal, under the downloads page.

  • Ensure you have a System Owner in Version 18 with a UNIQUE email address (I Cant stress the importance of this more than enough!)
  • Ensure you have access to the web client of this extension. This is the way you will now be configuring the PBX in Version 20. The Management Console is no longer with us.
  • Take a backup of your PBX in Version 18 Update 9.
  • Take this chance to do your Windows updates.
  • Uninstall Version 18.
  • Install Version 20 using the installer you downloaded.
  • Restore your configuration during the installation process.
  • Log in with your system Owner account.

Consider taking this opportunity to switch to Linux or even to 3CX hosting (from customer portal) to avoid this burden.
