Solved Ad Hoc Audio Conferences

We are 75% complete in our migration away from Cisco to 3CX. One feature Cisco has is "Conference Now'. This allows each user to have their own unique conference ID and PIN.

Couple of questions about 3CX audio conferencing:

1. Can users have their own unique conference ID and PIN?
2. Do users have to create a new conference every time by using the 3CX web or windows client?

This is typically used by executives and they have desk phones and typically send an email saying dial into the bridge and use XZY conference ID with XYZ PIN - and obviously we need to support having simultaneous audio conference bridges - so they have to be separate conference IDs / PINs.

Very interesting. The only problem is there is no security - it just adds the calling party to the audio bridge. We will figure out a way to make it work.

I'm also now starting to get my head around the distinction, within 3CX, between "audio conference calls" and web meetings.

As far as I can determine, there is no configuration option, within the 3CX MC, to require attendees to enter a audio conference call PIN to access to the call.

Unless you create a audio only web meeting. Then the invite includes a random 6 digit PIN that attendees must enter to join the webmeeting.

I haven't played with it much but I don't think external callers can get to x700**ext by themselves? Someone would have to transfer the call.

One workaround posted here before for consistent conferences/URLs is to create a conference dated years in the future and then don't "end" it. That would be the same PIN though.

One can also click Meet, start a Quick Meeting and send that out, and disable webcam. That's just the web, though, so needs a mic. But, it uses <server>/<name> as a consistent URL.

A user (extension) will be able to elevate a call to a conference call just by clicking conference in the active call and selecting which person they want to add into the conference.

If they are using the 3CX apps they will be able to add as many people as they need to this conference.

When a user calls extension 700 they can create their own conference ID and communicate this to participants.

They can also schedule a conference from their 3CX apps and a conference ID will be automatically generated, and any participants invited will receive an email with the conference ID included.

3CX also has the capability to call any conference participants at the time of the commencement of the conference call. This is disabled by default and you would need to go into Settings > Conferencing > Audio and enable "Call participants when the audio conference starts"
