Hi community,

Here is an experience sharing. We are testing android tabs under 10" and 200$ to work with 3CX. Here is our use case : 3CX RPi <-> Zyxel Wifi <-> Android Tablet <-> Jabra Engage 75 through Bluetooth.

The first we tried was a GalaxyTab A7 Lite. It works, but after few days users complained because of the latency of some calls with customers. We analysed the situation and observed we had a huge latency due to the Bluetooth part (based on call to *777). Connection with a wired headset is quite better. But that's not our use case.

So we tried Lenovo Tab M9, other brand, different chipset. The results were exactly the same.

At this time, we thought it was due to Android. So we have tried with a Samsung Z-flip 4 and the results were pretty good. So it doesn't look to be an Android trouble. But it may be, those two previous tabs has been built without some Android compilation options that would make better. Who knows? Compilation, material? What is your opinion?

We also tried with an iPad from 2016 and the results are also pretty good. Apple iPod Touch would have been an option, but this product was discontinued last year.

So this question: is there any Android tabs under 200$ that would behave better in this use case?

Best regards,

Hi @e-gaulue
Thanks for your feedback.

Can you please confirm if you have Car/Bluetooth (Telecom API) is enabled.
You can find this in 'Android App Settings (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced > First option under Audio options section.

If not enabled, please enable and retest your scenario.

If it is enabled, please send us verbose logging via Private Message for us to take a look
  1. Enable Verbose Logs: “Android App Settings (top left hamburger menu) > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting > Enable verbose logging”.
  2. Reproduce the issue and “Send log report”: Android App Settings (top left hamburger menu) > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting > Send Log Report
Thanks

Hi,

I did both tests yesterday. I changed the value, killed the application and started it again. The voice was slightly different, so I can say there was an effect, but the latency is exactly the same.

I can send logs, but according to me, it's not 3CX fault, the latency is all right when you are using a wired headset, it get much important when bluetooth is involved. By the way, we tested 3 different bluetooth headsets : Jabra Engage 75, Jabra Evolve 75 and Senheisser MB Pro 2. Same latency.

Still interested by the logs?

Regards,

Sorry,

When you mean 'Android App Settings (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced, you mean in 3CX App? Or somewhere else?

The one I tried yesterday is the one you can get from the 3CX App (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced.

Yes from the 3CX App (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced

Many bluetooth headsets on PC always have latency unfortunately.
There are some low latency codecs like AptX LL, but they only work in "stereo headphones" mode. As soon as you enable the mic for communications, the audio fallsback to classic bluetooth, with about 250-300ms of latency and it is unavoidable.

As for Android tablet devices, cannot really recommend a specific brand/model. What I can suggest is to make sure that it supports the Car/Bluetooth (Telecom API) for a better bluetooth communication between the devices.

@ThomB_3CX

I didn't speak about the same option in '3CX App for Android (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced. I though you were speaking about the audio sub system option.

When I get to '3CX App for Android (top left hamburger Menu)' > Settings > Advanced this morning on GalaxyTab A7 Lite, I saw the Car/Bluetooth (Telecom API), but it was already set on.

Then I installed samsung updates moving from Android 12 to 13, to see if it would change anything. But, now the option has disappeared: strange ...

I agree with you for the delay, I would say overall latency is about 300-500 ms with iPad, iPhone or Samsung Z-flip 4. But it get to 1s with GalaxyTab A7 Lite.

Regards,
