Change app credentials to prevent unauthorized access?

I have a terminated user who still has the app on their phone. I thought I could change the details for authentication and it would block them. After testing this theory it does not appear to do anything.
I do not want to delete the user extension because there is a speed dial on almost 100 phones to that extension. Is there a way I an change the credentials for the app to work?

When you Regenerate for the user, ensure "Regenerate provisioning file & QR Code for 3CX Apps" is checked. (v18 wording)
