I'm interested in moving our existing PBX to 3CX but our phone numbers are currently provided via SIP by the excellent Andrews & Arnold who are unsupported by 3CX. I can't see a way to add A&A in the 3CX hosted version of the PBX. I saw one forum post saying you have to self host to use an unsupported provider. Is that correct?

I don't want the hassle (or security concern) of self hosting, so if I cannot bring my existing numbers with me I think that may rule out 3CX. Or am I missing something?

Hi, with hosted by 3cx you have the option for generic sip trunks even when the same is not supported.

You can also check the supported voip provider list and ask one of them if there is any portability for your numbers too.

3CX hosting (Pro/Ent, at least) now supports “generic” SIP but of course you have to configure it yourself. (Country: Generic)

Your partner (or we) can set up a trial if desired.

A third option is hosting it externally, which we do for most of our clients.

If you only have the one SIP account you will probably want to test after hours as I’d expect both PBXs can’t connect at the same time.
