Fanvil V62W

Hi team,

We're trying to connect an IP phone to a remote location where only Wi-Fi is available, we only have a phone there, so we don't have a computer to be used as a SBC (n other opportunities, we have connected Wi-Fi phones with SBC and they've worked).

So, the only solution we could have in this moment, is using a phone as its own router, we've tried using a Fanvil V62W but when we connected it directly as a router, it's not working.


I've read that this isn't supported for Wi-Fi limitations, but maybe have someone make it work somehow?, if so, how can this be done?. Do you guys know maybe another IP phone that could actually works fine as a router using only a wireless connection?

This is probably due to the device not being on the latest 3cx firmware, flash it with the lastest firmware from https://www.3cx.com/docs/phone-firmwares/ and this should allow the device to connect.

3cx however will not support a router phone being on WiFi

Pretty sure you can't use a Fanvil in router mode when using wifi.

My solution is to run an SBC at a different location and tell the phone talk to that SBC. I have an SBC that is restricted inbound from very specific locations, and then I have my misc remote devices (Fanvil 610W, Grandstream HT802, etc) connect to it.

Hi Richard,

In effect we couldn't use the Fanvil as a router using Wi-Fi, so at the end, we decided to install a router and directly connect the phone to it.

We tried a SBC from our main office but since the IP phone wasn't part of our LAN, we were unable to reach the phone and make it work, it kept failing.

Hi Anthony,

My SBC has a public IP behind a firewall. I allowed inbound udp port 5060 and the rtp ports found in the 3cxsbc.conf from ONLY the remote devices. So the remote phone connects to the SBC over the internet. If you don't have a public IP on your SBC directly (doing NAT), you can try setting up DNAT on those ports, and it may work for you.
