So as many others have already stated with the removal of STUN from v20 the X4 phones will no longer register without going into each admin portal of the phone and disabling STUN.

Soooooo, my question is this. Can't we just edit the config file for these phones and remove the STUN reference all together?

I mean the phones work fine with STUN disabled. Putting in a Router phone or a SBC while paying for 3cx hosting defeats the purposes of paying for hosting if now the crutch of my voice resides on either a phone or SBC instance.

So can we edit this file and will that work?

Customised templates can be uploaded and used with the Hosted by 3CX platform. However, this will put the phone out of the support scope.

You do have the capability of having each device as a router phone. There is no additional cost to having the phone configured as a router phone.

We recommend the use of the SBC for security purposes. That god foresaken provisioning methos of STUN is insecure, as first and foremost it allows for any device to connect with the SIP credentials of an extension to the PBX.

These are Fanvil x4 version 1 phones. How can they be router phones? I thought only v2 could be

Hi What does "Out of the support scope" specifically refer to here? Will it affect the use of any functions on the device?

Anything that is provisioned with a custom template, our Technical Support department will not provide assistance with.

Correct. And I have found that an X4U-V1 can't just be upgraded to V2 firmware (different hardware apparently). I now need to bin these (otherwise good) V1 phones and replace with new V2 ones.
Unless Fanvil has a suggestion?.... ;)
