Our inbound caller ID has stopped working. It now shows "Absolute Call Group" instead of the name and number of the person calling. The absolute call group is the name of the...you guessed it. The call group I created :D Thanks for any help. I am using V14

Phones? Provider?

Have you looked in the logs to see what appears?

What type of trunking are you using? Were any changes made to the system?

Typically I see the group name before the ID when ringing to a group.. but otherwise the call is still identified normally. Check your INVITE to see what you are getting from your trunk provider, if anything.

IN addition to the above and not know the phones and how much display space they may have or when you created the ring group, is it possible that showing the ring group name now leave no space for the CID to show? What happens when you direct and inbound call to an extension first rather than the RG? Does it show then?

Sorry for the lack of information. We are using nexVortex and Yealink 38G phones. We have seven extensions (100-106) which is the Absolute Ring Group.Yesterday I took out extension 106 of the Absolute Ring Group and gave it its own new number. When we were configuring this setup to this one line, that is when the inbound caller ID switched to display "Absolute Ring Group" to the other set of phones (100-105). The inbound of that ring group worked fine until then. When I had this issue about 9 months ago, tech support emailed me this "To remove the name of your group and only keep the name for an incoming caller, simply expand the 'Settings' node > then 'General' > and switch to the 'Global Options' tab, un-tick the check-box that applies to 'Inbound name to Caller ID' which is located about half way down the page". Now that I am using 14 and not 12.5, I cannot find this option anymore.

I just called from my cell phone to the office. It still shows "Absolute Ring Group" but it also shows my cell phone. So it seems to be only the display name that is the issue. The log shows this:

Could it be something to do with the length of your ring group name? It is usually advised to keep that as short as possible to avoid pushing aside an incoming callers name. I suppose this would all depend on the size of the sets display. Normal PSTN type caller ID (in North America) is limited to a certain number of characters, so many sets/devices are capable of displaying only that number. To add additional characters may be pushing the callers name off the screen.

The inbound caller id was working with the same ring group name prior to me changing extension 106. So I do not think that is the issue.

That option in V14 is now found under Settings -> Company Phonebook, here click the "Phonebook Options" button an the option should be there.

Correct. I had to uncheck the "Add Queue, Group and DID names to Caller ID" Thanks for helping :D
