Hi All,

I have a 3CX PBX (latest version patched and up to date) installed on my LAN, with a Gradwell trunk. I have a fixed Internet IPv4 address and a Synology RT2600ac router (up to date except for a minor patch) configured for IPv4, on which after obtaining IPv6 info from my ISP I configured IPv6 using DHCPv6-PD in Stateless DHCP mode and using my ISP's DNS servers. All worked, I can (could) ping hosts on the web using IPv6, although a test site mentioned my browsers were not using IPv6.

Around the time this worked I could no longer make calls, receiving I'm not sure. After disabling IPv6 on the router and rebooting it I could make and receive calls. I didn't reboot the PBX.

As the error messages I received when trying to make calls when IPv6 was enabled were from 3CX, I'm at first sight assuming that the PBX lost contact with Gradwell.

I have not checked anything in detail, Gradwell support for IPv6, 3CX PBX on a Pi compatibility with IPv6 etc. just doing everything in parallel so I may come across the reason as I search, but any information as to incompatibility, config changes needed Gradwell or 3CX etc. appreciated.

I will say at this point although I can mange IPv4 reasonably well I am completely new to IPv6 and I plunged right in when doing the router config. This by the way was "interesting" some routers being easier to configure than the Synology, however following the right sequence via some disjointed Synology info, virtually every field was automatically completed (depends entirely on your choice like DHCP) for me except the DNS entries. Anyone trying to configure the same router for IPv6 please get in touch.

Regards...

Hi @Burt99

As far as I know Gradwell trunks do not have support for IPv6 yet. Both registrar FQDNs we have do not resolve to IPv6 addresses. Also 3CX should not attempt to use IPv6 unless the provider resolves to IPv6 or you force IPv6 in the trunk settings.

I am thinking that enabling it on your router you forced all traffic to IPv6 which broke the connection to the provider.
