Hi,

I encounter the following very boring issue: when I get an incoming call it always displays the number but not the corresponding name in my phone adress book :( It's extremely annoyingi Once I take the call it displays (but it's too late) the name of number calling. Have reprovisionned app, deleted/reinstalled, checked mobiile app preferences but problem still there :(

  • Phone Model: Same model on all my phones (OnePlus Nord 2, Oneplus 7 Pro, Xiamo Mi Pad 4)
  • Android Version: Android 11/10
  • App Version: 18.1.2.60
  • 3CX PBX Version: 18.0 (Build 461) on Debian
  • Network Connection: [WiFi | LTE] / [IPv4 | IPv6]: independant of connection mode
  • Client is on the same network as the PBX or not? never (pbx in a datacenter).

Bug ??

Thanks

Vincèn

Just adding myself here as I have the same issue. I have seen in other articles that this is normal and relates to the Android OS and the API/Interface. iPhones work differently in that respect and show everything correctly. Btw, have you tried adding the contact in the 3CX Phonebook instead? I tested with my old Galaxy S5 and it always picksup the correct entry once the 3CX Phonebook is selected. Make sure that you have permissions from 3CX to the local Phonebook of the Phone.

Well adding contact manually in 3Cx phonebook is sorry to say a pain in the ass as it's unable to handle some synchros with some standard adress books system (I have all my contacts in a synchronised Nextcloud).
What do you mean by have permissions from 3Cx to local phonebook of the phone ?? App has already full access at phone contacts...

Hello!
I also have the same problem.
I don't agree that it is normal. I have another PBX and the Android app, in the popup window of the incoming call, shows the contact name by taking it from the local address book.
That is, 3CX has a way to send the call that Android does not recognize the contact. But it is an issue with how 3CX sends the call, and not with Android. Otherwise it would not work with any PBX and App.
I can't add the contacts in the PBX, I have them synced with an app that 3CX doesn't use.
I think it is pretty elementary that an incoming call recognizes the contact that is in the local phonebook on the device. I'm sure if 3CX wanted to, they could figure it out.
But, if they won't even answer on the forum, it seems to have little or no interest.
I have the free version now, as soon as it expires and I have to pay, I will unsubscribe. I can't pay for something that doesn't even let you know who is calling before you answer the call.
Maybe if all of us who have the same need would talk about it, they would decide to look for a solution.
Regards

or perhaps ones like me that have a blog should talk about it and how about 3CX is a great produt but still missing so basic features :-(

Hi @vincen

Thanks for your feedback.

Could you also provide me in PM the app's verbose logs in order to understand what's going on and help you out with your issue?
  1. Enable Verbose Logs: “Android App Settings (top left hamburger menu) > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting > Enable verbose logging”.
  2. Reproduce the issue and “Send log report”: Android App Settings (top left hamburger menu) > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting > Send Log Report
Thanks

I was struggling with this for the last few days, asking people to call me and so on. It seems that Android detects the phone number in some way (I am not sure about the exact syntax), however, appending my name as the number's suffix seems to be counter-productive. When the call is in session, indeed, it pulls the contact name from the phonebook.
I was trying to remove the appended extension name from there. In the SIP trunk settings, I ask tried to modify the Inbound Parameters -> Caller Number/Name field mapping settings, but so far, has not come to a solution. And checking it requires me to ask people to call me to verify the results, which is tiresome.
A fix for that would be great!

Any update on this @ThomB_3CX ? It would be really nice to speed up solution for this very annoying bug that is there since a very long time :( Perhaps a nice negative review on Play store will motivate more 3CX to kick its ass ??
To be fair, a phone app that is not able to recognise numbers of incoming calls it's just crazy and shows clearly how 3CX doesn't care at all about its customers

@vincen When we'll have news, we'll announce.
